That soldier was out there, somewhere, being held captive by the newly discovered natives. He may have already given up hope, but the surviving O.D.S.T's were looking, because no man gets left behind. Charlie is crouched by Matt, still awaiting for the abomination to reply. *** The Forerunner's Hammer lay defeated on the deserts of Emerald Cove, a planet once cleansed by the Covenant. Survivors are gathered in it's hanger, deciding their next move. "Good, then we will head for the beacon and send a message to Sangheilios, warn them of this threat, and advise them not to help," Anau said suddenly. "But, Commander..." "Our fleet is dwindling, what ships we have left must remain in our homeworlds orbit to defend from more Brute attacks. This new enemy tore through three Assault Carriers before we could even cause a scratch, we would only be bringing more to the slaughter," Anau sighed. "But, such decision can of course only be made by our ship mistress," he continued, turning to Inwa. "But sir, what if they send help despite us not asking for it?" the minor asked. Anau thought for a moment. "Then we pray they don't, or, we lie,"

"I agree," said Zarra grimly, "Only more would be lost if they came, but I don't think they will believe us if we lie. What would we say? 'We've encountered a new dangerous threat, but everything is perfectly fine, so no need to come to help or investigate.' We need to tell them the truth. We need to tell them exactly how powerful those ships are. They should be prepared. We'll just have to hope they will honor our sacrifice."

"yes I agree we can bring our brothers and sisters into this mess" said Inwa. "We will simply say that we do not require aid as every warrior is needed to protect Sanghelios..and the true Covenant" said Katar. "are you sure they will listen Councilor" asked Inwa. "yes if needed we may need to tell a little white lie and claim that they may be in danger" said Katar who did not wish to use that option even as a last resort to save his brothers and sister..plus he did not want the oprotuninty for Sanghelios to be weaken incase there actualy may be an attack whether it be Brute or these things" said Katar. "first things first we must come to a agreement..I think we all agree that we should not recieve reinforcemens from our brother or any of the other races of the Covenant" said Inwa.
*** Specs put his katana back into its holder and while he was at it reloaded his BR. He leaned against a tree bored as well peace talks weren't his thing..then again talking wasn't his thing ethier. He worried from the trooper as they had no idea how civil these creatures were. "we should get moving ASAP..only God nows the horror he is going through right now" said Specs as he rejoined the group who was around the captive. Specs paused it was lucky he hadn't been the one getting information from it..his methods were the most civilised but it got the job done even if they didn't talk..then again it was lucky Specs hated working with others not in his unit..even when he was part of his old Spartan Team but Justin and Conner were long dead...maby that was why he was so bitter.

It had taken some time to break the 'prisoner', to force him to reveal the location of his camp and, so, the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. As Matt stood up, he sighed, heavily. Even SPARTANs get tired, and the events of the past few days were beginning to catch up with Matt. Thankfully, they hadn't needed to torture their prisoner; Matt didn't want to have to do something like that, however the life of an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper may have warranted it. However, that was all hypothetical, now. They had the location. They had the numbers. All they needed to discover now was whether the alien bastard had been lying or not. If he had, Matt didn't think he'd be able to dissuade some of the group from killing the prisoner. Nor did he think he'd want to dissuade them.
The forest seemed to be slightly darker now, most likely because the day was drawing further onwards. It was now the middle of the afternoon, and Matt didn't reckon they'd have finished their mission before the day ended. If they did, the aliens would have to be severely lax in their control and security. Looking around the gathered soldiers under his command in the forest, Matt looked around. "We don't have as much time, now. Pretty soon, I'm going to have to bring the convoy up through the woods. If I don't, they'll assume we're dead and bring it up anyway. So we'd better get the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper out, before they decide to kill him." Matt was going to add 'If they hadn't already', but then decided against it. Morale was important to keep high.
It was still relatively warm in the forest and, as Matt looked around, he nodded approvingly. Too much gear would make sound, sound which they could do without. "You all heard where the alien told us his camp is. Keep alert and on your guard. We head that way. Before we reach the camp, I'll split us up and form a plan. Until then, remain on guard. One slip and it cold all be over. For us and for the ODST. Now, move out." As the troops began to disperse, under Matt's lead, weapons drawn and alert, Matt whispered softly to Charlie. "Hey, Angel? When we get back, I'm going to make sure you're happier than you've been for a long time." Matt meant it. In addition, it'd also boost morale for the troops in general, seeing their leader so sure that they'd return. Yet that wasn't why he'd said it.

Russell woke up when his head smashed on the ground because of the moving Hog. Seeing as everyone was moving out, he groggily got up and used a stimpak to return his alertness and to recover any wounds or illnesses he got from the fight. However, he wasn't hurt; he just wanted to use a stimpak. He then got into walking along with everyone else.

"Well, well," Charlie said surprised. "That's very courageous of you, and how just do you plan to make me the happiest I've ever been?" she asked him. "Wait, don't answer that and don't call me angel," she said, smiling through her visor and continuing to treck through the trees.
***
"We still don't know the status of the humans," Anau said, when suddenly the clamps holding a Phantom crashed to the hanger floor, leaving the craft hovering above the mess. A few Elite engineers cheered and moved onto the next Phantom.

"If we don't find them on the way, we'll look for them after we contact Sangheilos," said Zarra already heading for the Phantom, "Or we could send another group out, it's not my decision. Heading for the beacon was my idea, and that's what I'm going to do. Warning the rest of the fleet away should be our first priority. Before they try to come here to find out what happened to us."

"hopefully our brothers who escaped the ship will find out the humans fate" said Katar as he boarded the Phantom. (Ooc if that is ok with everyone). "I agree we must contact Sanghelios first then we will find the humans" said Katar. "I agree" said Inwa. *** "yes sir" said Specs as he dropped his Rocket Launcher to the ground to lighten his load and limit noise. "if anyone wants it take it..if not then put it in a Warthog for safe keeping" said Specs.

Matt smiled, wyrly, at Charlie, before realising that his helmet would be blocking any sight she'd have of his face. "No, I won't answer that here, in front of all these others." The laugh in his voice was unmistakeable, despite his quiet, hushed tones. And then he was all business again, back to the mission at hand. Spikers raised, silently scanning the trees, Matt moved forwards, making sure the small 'convoy' of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, SPARTANs and general marines moved forwards. All this trouble for the life of one Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, one outside person may think. Yet it wasn't just for the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper; this was to neutralise or pacify an entirely diverse new culture. They didn't know how many of these 'aliens' were on the planet.
The captive alien had remained silent since his ordeal, probably in some short of cultural shame at having betrayed his comrades. Although, if they did manage to broker a peace deal with these aliens, which was to the benefit of both the United Nations Space Command and to the aliens themselves, this alien would have been the bridge between the two separate cultures. Whilst Matt doubted they'd ever treat him as an absolute hero, this alien may be able to restore some of his honour. Matt had made it a point not to treat him too harshly, considering he had cooperated with their wishes and aims. SPARTANs were bred and designed for war and violence, yet they didn't exactly relish it, contrary to popular belief. Matt knew that even John-117 hadn't relished it.
Without even noticing the distance they'd covered, Matt realised that they'd reached the point from which they were to spread out and encircle the camp. Matt stopped, whispering softly to those behind, issuing his orders. Turning to one of the better Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, Mira, Matt whispered softly to her. "Mira, you take Specs and a couple of other Marines round to the left. Charlie, you and Russel take Marines round the right. I'll take a few through the center, and try and engage them peacefully. Try and rescue the Marine, if he's alive, while I distract them. If all goes to pot, try and rescue the trooper however possible, at the expense of as little life as possible."

Russell then looked at Charlie. "I've got a few Marines here under me, one's inside a Hog and the others are walking. Wait here, I'll go get them."

(OoC: Uh... Coconut, Mira is still out there somewhere, lost in the forest at the moment; I haven't had her rejoin the rest of the group yet, but I'm going to bring her back soon.)

Zarra didn't board the Phantom right away, but stood beside it with a proud smile. She felt clever and important for thinking of the beacon. She looked around the busy hangar, seeing if anyone else seemed interested in coming along.
