((OoC: She was talking about their ability to resist being picked up and thrown about ten feet by an angry Sangheili, not the strength of their armor. Technology aside, they're no bigger or stronger than a human. ))

Russ saw Zarra and Anau coming out of the Phantom as the two Rifters dropped dead with one shot each from their guns.
He commed all of the assembled Spartans and Elites here. "I think I figured something out: it appears these Rifter weapons might be extremely powerful against themselves. I just shudder to think what larger weapons might be capable of."
(OoC: We might have an advantage here: if Forerunner weapons work equally well against their combat skin we could have a technology implementation.)

Darman flinched as the contacts ceased to register on his motion tracker. Were they jamming him? He hefted the rifle, slamming a new clip into place before racking the charge handle. He took a few silent breaths, then popped his head over his position. A Spartan was standing over a pair of fallen Rifters, a captured Beam Sword in his hand. Darman nodded in acknowledgement, then rose. They seemed to have cleared out the majority of the external defenses, although distant artillery was still attempting to get a lock on their position. He surveyed the carnage.
"NO RIFTER IS SAFE FROM LASER-MAN JENKINS!!!"
Darman cocked his head in disbelief, as a lone ODST squad leader appeared beyond the ridge, hefting a rather large Spartan Laser. As the soldier reached the top of the ridge, however, he gazed out across the still remains of the battlefield. "You mean I missed the party?"

The Rifter Station was destroyed. The explosion was so intense the shock wave blasted several smaller Rifter ships into the open, which were quickly finished by the Sangheili.
"Look, look at what they're doing," Sanderson said, standing up from his captains chair and approaching the main view screen.
The Rifter fleet was in ruins. The Sangheili and Human ships were now surrounding what was left of them. But what ships were left, were now grouping dangerously close together.
"What are they doing?" asked a console operator.
"I don't know..." Sanderson replied, watching the ships then suddenly accelerate, "Gun them down!"
The allied fleet opened fire and picked off the last of the Rifter ships in the odd formation. The 'outer ships' were torn apart, revealing the last Flagship.
"Kill it!"
The ship flared it's shields and shot away from the fleet, when it then all of a sudden entered a slip-space portal, and disappeared.
That was it. The Rifter fleet and station, it was all destroyed, defeated. That last ship got away, but no matter. They were victorious.
Stunned, the crew aboard The Drop sat at their posts in silence. The Human-Sangheili fleet just floated in space, amongst the debris of the enemy.

This was more like Zarra. Running in and not exactly thinking about the consequences. While she performed her little stunt, Anau desperately attempted to cover her as she ran in, and ran back.
"Impressive," he commented, "Don't do that again,"
Chandler and Jack listened to Russell's words and both spotted a few Rifter weapons on the ground. Jack was curious, so he placed his assault rifle on his back and picked up the ancient weapon.
Chandler watched as he fired, but was interrupted by Sanderson hailing him.
"Yes, sir?"
"Chandler, we're done up here,"
"Congratulations on your victory,"
"Thank you. What's your status?"
"Your Phantoms were shot down, we're evaccing survivors,"
"Oh, I see. I thought you would be in the control room by now... Chandler, if there is a Rifter Commander in there, and he learns his fleet is destroyed... well, I know what I'd do,"
"I understand, we're moving,"
Chandler cut the comm. and moved out of his cover, "Everyone!" he roared, "We NEED to get to the Control Room, move it!" he ordered as he began running, "Double time!"
(OoC: Get to the door and stay there pl0x)

(( Oru I am having Elias carry Lyra and set her outside the control room just so you know where Lyra is )) After his digging was complete and conviently at the end of the battle he had found Lyra. She appeared to be alive so he lifted her up. He heard the orders to get the so the control room so he carried Lyra there. *** (OOC Just doing this in quick reply so no Red ) " This is it" thought Grim as he placed himself into The Forerunners system and began eating and hacking away at it.

Russ instantly ran, slapping the Rifter weapon on his leg, keeping the SSMG on his other leg, and his MBR on his back as he headed towards the Control Room at full speed.

Darman winked an acknowledgement light in response to the order. He clicked the rifle back into place, making sure his MA5K was still secure as it hung from its strap. He approached what appeared to be the entrance: an unnessesarily large blast door set into a wall of alien steel. He dropped to a knee, bringing his carbine to bare on the entrance. No need to welcome any unwanted visitors.

Russ stared at the blast door. "Those Forerunners must have been giants or population rabbits for blast doors this size. That, or it's for the Sentinels."

Chandler stood at the entrance of the Control Room. The massive, ancient blast door was locked shut. Someone with Forerunner technology experience should be able to open it.
***
"Congratulations, Commander!"
Nothing but praise. Sanderson stood on his bridge, tall, proud and grinning. He shook hands and laughed with his crew; Humans were now another step up the ladder. And Sanderson put them there.
He broke away from his crew and stood in front of the view screen with his arms folded. He took in a big, long breath and then let it all out. As he stared outside, back into the darkness of space, he noticed for the first time the stars. Oh the sweet sense of victory.
"Enemy vessel off the bow," Ki warned, but ignored.
"Shh, Ki," Sanderson silenced, "It's just debris,"
"Enemy vessels off the bow," she warned again.
A few of the crew started to pay attention, though others continued to celebrate their victory, including Sanderson.
"Alert; enemy vessels within firing range,"
Sanderson winced, the stars he was gazing at... the were disappearing. Replaced by... something else.
"God, no..."
"Confirmed, enemy contacts twelve o'clock!" cried a crewman, "It's the Rifters!"
Light began flickering in the distance, and Sanderson just stood there in fear. The crew panicked and reported to their stations, yelling at each other and rapidly bringing up screens and giving the computer orders. It was too late.
The fleet was bombarded by rockets, lasers and weapons of all sorts. The Rifters came back with a vengeance, and also a fleet five times the size of their original.
"Sir, we're losing ships!"
Sanderson stood and watched. That crewman certainly wasn't lying.
"What do we do!?"
"Retaliate!" one other crewman wisely suggested.
"No, prepare a retreat," Sanderson ordered, "Tell the Elites they're on there own, and put me through to the ground team!"
***
"One of you Humans just needs to press that console over there," Anau said, pointing out the floating Forerunner panel.
"Oh," Chandler said, seemed easy enough, "Someone do that, then," Easy, yes. But new and scary to Chandler.
"Ground team, come in," radioed Sanderson.
"Great, Sanderson's on my ass again," sighed Chandler, then opening the comm. "Sir, we're entering the control room n-"
"Master Chief!"
"Uh, yes sir?"
"The Rifters have launched a counter attack, we're getting our asses kicked!"
Chandler looked up into the sky and watched as a mass Rifter fleet began moving across the sky, "Jesus..."
"We're pulling back!"
"Woah, woah, how far back?" Chandler asked, worried this was New Jerusalem all over again.
"Your mission still remains, take and hold that control room at any cost!"
"Commander, don't you leave us behind again," Chandler said with a growl, watching the fleet get thicker.
"I have no other choice! We're losing two ships to the second!"
"Sanderson..." Chandler grumbled.
"I'm sorry, Gods speed, Marines,"
The comm was cut on Sanderson's end. Chandler continued to look up at the sky as the Rifter fleet began to descend onto the Ring, absolutely furious. The Elites and U.N.S.C had left the system. Abandoned... again.
Anau joined Chandler in looking up on the Rifter fleet, "I think we have a problem..."
The Spartan twitched; a shit storm was coming... if they didn't get inside, they would be rained on.
"Everyone, in!" he ordered, "Now, now, NOW!"

Cassy and Ashlynn darted into the control room. Thanks to the first Master-Chief's efforts, the two quickly navigated through the labyrinth of hallways to the final door. Ashlynn shouldered her Designated Marksman Rifle and turned to Chandler. "Fifty-six, sir, this is as far as we can go." Cassy shouldered her Battle Rifle and joined Ashlynn at the door. They quickly began to survey the door, looking for a way in.

Catherine watched the Rifter fleet terrorize the UNSC fleet. "You listened to that comm transmission, Captain?" Alicia asked, a worried look on her face. Catherine nodded. "Alicia, put me through to their Master-Chief." "Certainly, ma'am." Catherine cleared her throat. "Master-Chief! Master-Chief, come in! This is the Astray Frigate, Dance of Aurora. Please, respond."

Russ stared up, and uttered two words on the com channel which practically summed up the situation.
"We're f**ked."
He then sprinted into the Control Room, MBR in hand. He then wondered if the Rifters carried any other weapons. If their sidearms were that powerful... he wondered what their other weapons held. Their anti-armor weapons could be practical nukes... aim, fire, and flush.

((OoC: Just to be clear, we're going to need all of the human and Elite ships, (except for Otto's ship which is forced to land,) out of there within the next couple posts. Whatever you're going to do with that Frigate, Mitch, do it quick. )) Zarra hurried inside, staying close to Anau. She watched the way ahead carefully, keeping her rifle ready, she was certain that there were still enemies within the structure. The immediate area appeared to be safe, so she let herself glance back toward the door with a sigh. "I can't blame them for leaving this time, it would be suicide for them to stay any longer, and they'll be no use to us or anyone else if they're destroyed."

((OoC: I just need all the ships out of there, ASAP; the ground forces need to be completely on their own here. There's no way for any ships that stay to survive anyway, these are hundereds of big, mean, Rifter ships. Otto's ship is only safe because it's downed, and the Rifters don't think it's a threat. By the way, Specs, if you want to pick us up later, you should probably have Otto land his ship soon, (unless you have already and I missed it.)))

((I have two Astray Prowlers on the surface, too, just so you know. The cloaking devices on them are the highest tech that can be stolen. As for the other Astray ships? I can get them outta dodge on their own, I'll kick 'em out at the last minute.))
