"There, majority rules!" growled Anau. What a worthless Spartan this one was.
Chandler lowered his head and then through it back in frustration, like a child who didn't get his way. He pulled his Assault Rifle over and began walking towards the wreck, while saying these words of warning, "If the Halo goes off while we're rescuing your buddies, watch out for me in Hell, because I'll be coming for you."
***
Darman was alive, good. And already back in action. Jack was still phased by the crash, but his vision had returned to normal. But apparently his hearing hadn't, an Elite was crying? An Elite? No wonder the Humans won.
He decided to stay put, waited for his head to come clear.
***
Anau had ran off. He skipped over debris and the fallen before coming to a ledge, which he then jumped from. He slid down the side of the Forerunner pillar before crashing into the sand. After recovering, he saw the Phantom just meters ahead of him, where a lone Spartan was defending the crash site. Not a good sign.
He ran forward, Plasma Rifles blazing and joined the Spartan, Darman.
"Where's everyone else!?" he yelled over incoming fire and his own, "Are they inside? Wounded? How many dead?"

((OoC: It might be best if you let Anau talk to Zarra, since he's here already. Russell should probably help defend the Phantom anyway. ))

(OoC: Mkay.)
As he heard no response, Russ focused on shooting the Rifters. He situated himself at a strategic cover point made of the debris, and reloaded the MBR. He opened fire on what Rifters there were that had made the sorry mistake of trying to attack the Phantom.
And then he saw Anau near the wreck. He commed him.
"Hey Anau, we've got an Elite that's crying, I think you should get over here. I'll provide cover fire."
And then he saw a pistol-like weapon on the ground. He picked it up, and it instantly turned into something akin to a holographic rifle. He pulled what semblance of a trigger there was, and it fired a plasma ball which scorched the desert.
He wondered how well Rifter weapons would work on their own kind...
(OoC: The gun Russ picked up is the Forerunner gun from Origins Part 1.)

Now that was a true Spartan. Anau nodded and attached his Rifles to his thighs, then climbing into the Phantom wreck.
He landed inside and immediately caught sight of a Spartan sitting against an Elite killed in the crash, he was obviously disoriented.
"Zarra?" he called softly.

Katar went into the Phantom and say some elites loafing around doing nothing. They did not appear to be injured or disoriented at all. " Defend the Phantom if you are not assisting with searching for the wounded or missing " growled Katar to them. This was a pretty bad crash...it could of been him pinned under some rubble. " Help " he heard from under the piece of rubble he was standing on to get elevation so everyone would see him and hear him. " Terribly sorry I did not think anyone would be under his pile human " said Katar as he ripped the human from under the rubble and placed them on their feet. " take a minute to rest and if you are feeling well enough help defend the Phantom " said Katar patting them on the back.

Zarra heard someone call her name and looked up, "Hello?" she called back weakly. She started to stand, but her head was still spinning from the crash and she quickly decided not to.

"Where are you?" Anau asked after hearing her call back. He frantically looked around and spotted her attempting to stand on the other side of the Phantom.
He quickly scrambled over destroyed equipment and eventually planted himself in front of her. "It's me," he said calmly, taking off his helmet and tossing it aside, then doing the same to hers.
"Are you ok?" he ask, putting his hand on the side of her face.

Zarra nodded, still crying, and curled up in Anau's arms. "My head hurts," she mumbled, "...I've hit it worse before, but it really hurts."

Chandler arrived at the crash site and joined Darman and Russell in it's defence, "Let's make this quick,"
Inside the Phantom, it was surprisingly quiet. Jack had finally snapped out of it and casually stepped over the dead and unconscious, then pulling himself outside the Phantom and engaged.
Anau held Zarra close as she wept, "Shh, it's ok, I'm here now,"
The crash must have been terrifying for her to be like this. Maybe it was because they had gone a few years without any combat, that coming back to it so suddenly was overwhelming. "This was a mistake, coming back to all this, I'm so sorry."

Darman continued putting rounds into the defending forces. He still had to thin them out enough for the survivors to get free of the wreckage. He slammed a fresh clip into the rifle and yanked the charge handle with a clack. As he attempted to bring the rifle to bare, a hail of Rifter return fire began thudding into his position. They had found him. He flattened himself as much as he could, eyeing his motion tracker. He really didn't want to engage these things in close-quarters, their armor was too friggin' thick. But sure enough, a pair of contacts was already moving up the slope.

"No!" said Zarra, shaking her head, "No, I want to do this; I can do this." She climbed to her feet. "Where is the enemy?" she growled determinedly, drawing her plasma rifle, "They will regret shooting me down."

As the enemies moved down the slope, Russ pulled out a weapon that the Rifters had used and opened fire. The streams of high-energy plasma bolted towards the two Rifters.

"Oh, haha!" Anau cheered, handing back her helmet and then fetching his, "If you're sure, follow me,"
He placed on his helmet and climbed out of the wreckage. He landed feet first into the sand and quickly analysed the Rifter attack. There weren't many left now, they just seemed to be showing up when they could. Should be easy for Zarra to handle, like practice.
Chandler and Jack both opened fire on the Rifter soldiers making their way to Darmans position.
"Hurry it up in there!" Chandler yelled.

Zarra refastened the straps of her helmet and followed Anau. She was angry now. These creatures had tried to kill her and Anau, as well as many others, and they would try to kill them again. They needed to be stopped, now.
Zarra let out a roar and charged forward at one of the enemies that had advanced too near to the crash site. The Rifter froze in surprise at the sight of the large, enraged, fanged creature that was suddonly upon him, and was soon snatched off the ground and flung at one of his allies. Zarra then opened fire on the pair of stunned enemies finishing them off. By that time she had drawn the attention of a few more Rifters, who nearly took her shields down, forcing her back to the others for cover. "Weak little things, these 'gods'," she snickered as her shields recharged.

(OoC: I would imagine them as powerful. Guilty Spark mentions the MJOLNIR Mark V rates about a class 2. Then again, the scale does go all the way up to 18. So maybe these are the "Grunts" of the Forerunners, and later on, we encounter the higher-ranked officers with more advanced armor. )
