(OoC: Good speech.)
Anau held Zarras hand and gave her a smile, a worried smile. He had accomplished enough, he though to himself. He was a strong warrior, and a respected one at that. Well, he was respected once. He had found love and brothers, made friends of enemies and defeated countless others. He could accept death, though he had just one thing missing; his legacy. He kneeled in front of her and continued to smile, keeping her hand comfortably in his.

"The last transmission from the squad came from the Firgates landing zone," Kelly advised as Lachlan levelled out the Pelican before the planets surface. "What a bitch that must have been, rocking up only to find your means of escape thousands of feet above you," Lachlan sighed sympathetically. "You're going to have to rely on my coordinates. There are no visual references left; the city is gone, the Rifter ship has been eaten by the planet, there are literally rivers of flowing lava and there are chasms everywhere," Kelly said. "Jesus... are you looking at this?" Lachlan asked the Spartan sitting behind him. Kelly was right, the planet had gone apocalyptic. Fires were sweeping over the planet, cities had disappeared or crumbled and canyons so deep there didnt appear to be any bottom. "How do we know they're still alive?" he asked Kelly. "The last transmission sent from the squad was from Spartan 0-5-6, and that was only a few minutes ago. Assuming they havent moved since then, I can lock onto their signal," "Do it."

((SPARTAN))
Mitch shook his head in sadness as he watched New Jereauslem break apart. All those civilians either stranded or dead. He heard Lachlan mention a Spartan tag. "Chandler..." he hoped that Cassy was still alive. He sighed and looked at Lachlan. "Hey, I never did ask your name."

An ODST looked up at the sky. "Hey! Look!" he pointed at the black spec in the darkened sky. Mitch looked up from blankly staring at his helmet. "It's a Pelican! No f**king way! YEAH!" he exhaled in relief and smiled. Unfortunatly, the ground beneath them began to crack slowely. "Ooh..." Cassy panicked and activated her radio. "This is UNSC SPARTAN-IV, Cassy zero-seven-seven! Pelican dropship, respond! Please, I beg you! Respond!" she shouted. Suddenly the ground began to crack beneath her and she began to fall. "CHANDLER!" she shouted and the ground finnally gave way.

Mitch heard the transmission just before it cut off. "Cassy!" he messed witht he controls, trying to get the signal again. "AI! Get that damn signal back! Find where it came from!"

"I'll do it... don't push my buttons," Kelly told the Spartan, "It's done," "I got it," Lachlan said once receiving Kelly's coordinates. (OoC: I'm waiting for the Phantoms to come for the Elites) ***
Chandler leaped from the Warthog and took Cassys hand. They both swung above the pit below them while he held onto some mechanical part under the Warthog. Half the 'hog was in the hole, the other half poking out. Charlie was quick to take Chandlers seat and began attempting to drive the Warthog out, while the ODSTs quickly scrambled to take the Warthogs towing hook to attach it to another vehicle.

Zarra looked up and smiled again, but this time only slightly. "We'll still be together at least," she sighed, "There's just so much more of life I wish I could have seen. All I've seen since childhood has been surrounded by war."

Cassy yelped as Chandler took her hand. "Please! Don't let me go!" she begged, looking into the molten abyss waiting for her, thousands of metres below her. She grabbed Chandler's wrist with her free hand and held on as hard as she could.
((ODST))
Mitch put his helmet back on and quickly started the Warthog back up. "Hellbringer, get the damn tow winch onto the falling Warthog now!" Jake dropped his weapons and sprinted over and began pulling Mitch's Warthog's tow cable with all his might. "Heh, jus' like the fire hoses before I was a soldier." he mumbled to himself. Snapping the tow hook onto Charlie's warthog, he darted back into the side of Mitch's warthog. "Charlie, I have a tow hook on your 'hog! Accelerate! NOW!" he ordered, putting his M831 TT Warthog into full reverse, as fast as he could force the vehicle to go. Jake sweated under his helmet. "Oi- can't you get this thing to go faster, friend?" he asked. "Jake, if I put my damn foot down any further- we'd be flintstoning our asses backward!" he growled. "Point taken."
((SPARTAN))
Mitch nodded. "I'm not gonna let her die down on that hell hole... not like Claire..." he mumbled to himself.

"You're a Spartan, Cassy. Act like one," Chandler grunted, tightening his grip of her wrist, "Drive, Marine!" Charlie shoved her foot down. The two front wheels began spinning, spitting dirt at Chandler and Cassy. The Hog slowly began to move forward until finally the rear wheels grasped back onto land. The Warthog bounced out of the hole and Charlie immediately hit the brakes. "We're good!" she called to Mitch. She jumped from the drivers seat and ran to the rear of the vehicle to check on the Spartans. Chandler was already back on his feet, dusting himself off.
***
Lachlan glanced back at the Spartan when he heard him mention a familiar name, he shook it off and went back to his controls. "We're arriving at our desti-" "Yeah, I see them," Lachlan interrupted, spotting the squad stranded on one side of a newly formed canyon. Lachlan swung the Pelican around and lowered it above the turreted Warthog. He attached it to his Pelicans magnetic plates and then set the bird down. "Come on," he said to the Spartan, getting up from his seat and opening the bay doors.
Lachlan left the Pelican and walked up to the squad, "Come on guys, time to go," Chandler approached the pilot and stood over him, staring him down, "I thought there was nothing you could do," he growled. Lachlan only smiled and rustled the Spartans hair, "You can thank me properly later," Chandler chuckled, "Let's get the hell of this rock," "Eyes high, the Elites are here," Kelly said over the radio. Lachlan looked up to see an Assault Carrier appearing out of the clouds, "Great, I was worried this whole thing was for nothing," he chuckled.

"come on" said Otto as he flipped the Mongoose over and started at. Elias had to jump on as the ground beneath him started to sink. Otto gunned it towards the Pelican and got off followed by Elias. "sorry we are late the elites got into a bit of trouble so we decided to help them" said Otto. "wasn't my idea...speaking of which if one of you could tell whoever controls the funds that I am going to need more then I previously asked for because well they freaking left us behind and well I am suffering some "emotional trama" " said Elias putting air quotes around emotional trama. *** (OOC Incase Ares fails to post today or tomorow I am at least bringing Inwa's CCS Battlecrusier onto the planet...if not saving the elites here then she will be saving some humans and elites elsewhere) "We have stablised ma'am" said the navigational officer as they finished climbing down the layers of the atmosphere before they reached bottom of it the troposphere. "good get us in line with that Assault Carrier" said Inwa. "at once Shipmisstress" said the officer.

The Raidant Jewel roared down from high orbit, where it had been locked in combat with three Rifter battleships, two of which had been obliterated. The huge Assault Carrier split the air as it rumbled down, descending to low orbit- and smacking a Rifter cruiser out of the air with sheer mass. The ventral docking bay had already opened up, spewing forth literal swarms of Phantoms. The small, indigo carriers glided down torwards the chaotic battlefield, peppering over to retrieve Elites whose rescue beacons were still intact, and transmitters from buildings that were still intact. Zaku stood at the helm of his enormous battlecruiser, sparks flying in the command nucleus. The usually terrifying Zealot was now apparently in a full rage mode, storming about the shaking command deck. He roared to the crew, "I know councilor! Now the wind in our lungs is best spent trying to help the people and Elites on that planet! Move, move, move! Get those Sangheili- and anyone else we can find- so we can get the hell out of here!"
One of the indigo dropships singled out Zarra and Anau's suit signals. It glided like a spectral insect torwards the burning surface of the planet, opening its bay doors. The pilot sent out a comm signal, "All survivors, pile onboard! We're coming to get you." The Phantom descended, dust being blown around as it came to a slow hover within eyesight of the surviving Sangheili.

Mitch gently brought a fist down on Lachlan's shoulder and followed him out of the cockpit. He noticed Cassy first thing and the two of them ran into each other's arms. "You're safe... You're alright..." Mitch whispered to her. Cassy shed a few tears behind her helmet. "You found me..." she smiled faintly, then looking out at the hordes of Phantom and Spirit dropships landing and taking off in the distance. She turned back to Mitch and depolarized her visor. He did the same. "C'mon," he said, gesturing his head to the Pelican dropship, "Let's get you to safety." Cassy smiled sympathetically and did what Mitch said.
((ODST))
Jake hummed in victory to himself and hopped inside the Pelican's cargo bay. Mitch jumped out of his Warthog and approached Charlie. "Nice driving, Chaz. They'll definitly give you a promotion or two for saving some Spartans." he grinned. "Now, report to the Pelican. It'd suck to lose one of the UNSC's best." and with that, he jogged to the Pelican and sat down across from where Cassy was standing.
((SPARTAN))
Mitch hopped onto the cargo bay ramp and waited for the last of the marines and ODSTs to enter.

"I don't believe it," Anau said, stunned. He stood back up and quickly wrapped Zarra around him, "Everyone to the Phantom, quickly!" The Human driver was quick to abandon his vehicle and run ahead of the Elites to the Phantom where he was welcome aboard. Anau moved as fast as he could with Zarra's arm around him, "We're getting out of here," he chuckled, still completely stunned.
***
Lachlan followed Mitch on board and once Charlie and everyone else was aboard, Chandler entered and closed the bay doors behind him. The Pelicans engines powered up and with a quick burst of thrust it jumped from the surface and began to take off. "The UNSC fleet is moving out," Kelly advised. "I don't think they'd want us back anyway, tell the Elites we'll hitch a ride off them," Lachlan replied, powering off towards the Assault Carrier.

Zaku glared intently at the screens on the Command Nucleus. The ornately-helmeted Councilor who had come along with Katar had long since resigned himself to standing off to the side of the nucleus and pretending to look regal. The golden-armored Zealot ignored him. Instead, he focused on the readouts as fire and explosions continued spreading... They had to make this quick. The Ship Master- now, really, he was kind of commanding the Fleet now, but these things are much too burdening in such a crisis- noted that a number of Pelicans- the only surviving ones- were fleeing to the nearest Sangheili ships. Currently, one Pelican had already docked in the Radiant Jewel's ventral docking back, and two more were making beelines for the huge Sangheili ships. Zaku simply couldn't believe that the humans would abandon so many of their own here. It was shameful.
Ship Master 'Vudem heard a light hiss and a clank as the chaotic Command Nucleus's arching door opened. In came a particularly battered SPARTAN, clad in what must have been pearly white armor. Now it was coated with ash and soot, and had several new indentations. Happens when you're shot out of a Pelican and fall through a building. This particular demon clanked down the Nucleus's length to the golden-armored zealot. Zaku turned to look at him, at a full height of an impressive nine feet. The SPARTAN looked up the two feet, removing his helmet.
"Too much ash. No use in wearing it, anyway," Justin grunted. His short, but still somehow shaggy, straw-colored hair was bordering a large purple bruise on his forehead. He must have gotten that when he went unconscious. A flickering blue A.I. manifested its tiny avatar on Justin's shoulder, and added, "Armor funtionality at 63%. It's a wonder he's still moving."
Zaku simply grunted, and then growled, "No matter. Your UNSC is remarkably cowardly, fleeing at a time like this." The hulking zealot then turned back to his work, quickly barking orders at the Sangheili on board, and his favorite Ultra was scurrying around trying to help.
-------------------------------
The Radiant Jewel fired several plasma mortars up at the Rifter ships overhead... shortly, the cruisers overhead would finish charging their weapons and blow them out of the sky. Sangheili CCS-class battleships continues swirling around overhead, trying to provide cover for the Assault Carrier to finish rescuing the remaining stranded Sangheili and humans. But they couldn't hold for much longer....

Mitch took off his helmet and sat back, resting his head on the wall. Then he took out a picture of Maria. Shaking his head, he put it back after a good long llook at it. He was safe, so why didn't it feel like it?
Cassy took off her helmet and stepped toward Chandler. "I... I never thanked you yet, did I?" she asked. "Well, I'm in your debt, Chandler. Thank you. Grace would've been very proud." she said before walking back to her original spot.

Once the Phantom had set down, two Elites came and took Zarra aboard. He climbed in after her and as did the rest of the squad. "We're all accounted for, get us out of here,"
***
Chandler quickly took Cassy's arm, "Stop mentioning her, it's unnecessary," he let her go and he moved into the cockpit. He only observed as Lachlan piloted the Pelican into large hanger bay of Zaku's Assault Carrier. It wasn't exactly a trial, the hanger was large enough to fit a UNSC Frigate or two. He put the bird down beside another Pelican and a small UNSC medbay. As soon as the Pelican touch the floor, Lachlan shut down the engines, released the Warthog and opened the bay door.
