Elias tried starting it but it didn't work so he kept trying to get it to start. He growled after his 5th try and kicked the front of the Warthog denting the front bumper. "piece of shit" mumbled Elias. The driver growled at the dent but got into the drivers seat. "hey I am sorry but the stupid thing was not working" said Elias to driver. "yeah well this thing did not get you through hell and back many a time" said the driver. "look we could sit here and argue like old women all day but if we don't get moving we are gonna DIE" said Elias. Elias then turned the Mongoose up next to Otto as he helped an Odst into the Transport Warthog and honked the horn. "come on" said Elias who kept honking the Mongooses horn. "lets wait for them to get moving first...don't worry we will catch up" said Otto to Elias. "why can't we just go now" asked Elias. "that would be rude" said Otto. "you think of the right thing to do and the polite thing to do when we are about to die...unbelieveable" said Elias.
((OOC You know what I just realised...why couldn't of the Elites picked us up instead of us speeding off on a doomed planet to get to a Frigate that is leaving))

((OoC: The Elites are probably just as busy with the space battle and evacuating civilians as the humans are. )) "Everything hurts," Zarra sighed, then managed to chuckle, "But that isn't anything new for me at the end of a battle, and I wasn't at my best at the start of this one." She tried to put a little of her weight on her injured leg, then winced shaking her head. "Well, I'm glad you seem to be alright at least." "Okay," said the driver, as they returned, "You aliens can go ahead and hop in the back and get ready for us to start moving, there should be some medical supplies if you need 'em... that is, if you guys can use the same stuff as us... Anyways, we'll keep trying to get the engine going again, don't worry."

"This isn't good," Anau sighed, putting his free hand on the vehicle to keep Zarra and himself upright while the planet continued to shake, "Not good at all."
***
"There, there it is!" the gunner cheered, pointing to the rear of the frigate. It's hanger was just inviting them in, "We did it, we're getting out of here!" But, in a swift, morale killing move, the Frigate suddenly began to rise from the planets surface. "No!" the gunner cried. "Sanderson!" Chandler snarled, "Put that Frigate down!" "Marine, Geologists have determined that the planet is destabilising. We waited as long as we could, the constant earthquakes and formation of chasms were threatening our evacuation crafts," "Damn it Commander! We were so close!" Chandler yelled, still powering on towards the Frigate. He received no reply. "Commander!" "Attention all UNSC forces and Humans alike. If you can hear this message, then I regret to inform you that we have been forced to leave you behind. Know that your sacrifice will be honoured, and that you will be avenged. Sanderson out." Chandler was speechless and continued to drive. "So that's it then..." Charlie sighed, putting her head on the dashboard.
***
Anau held Zarra close as the Frigate began to ascend into the sky, then even closer when the rear of the Rifter ship began to sink into the earth behind them. He looked around the squad, and the Human that had fallen into his seat after hearing Commander Sanderson's message. There was no escape.

Zarra watched the ship, their only hope for survival, start to fade away through the clouds, then looked out across the surface of the dying planet, with an overwhelming feeling of sadness and fear. "No," she whispered, disbelievingly, "Not now, not like this." She shook her head then let it rest against Anau's shoulder and closed her eyes. "No one ever really gets to choose how their life ends though, do they? If these are my last moments I'm glad, at least, to be spending them with you."

"Stop the car," Charlie groaned, sitting back upright. Chandler didn't respond, he continued to drive. "Stop, just... just stop this damn thing!" she kicked and screamed. Chandler let out a sigh and began to slow the Warthog; there was no point continuing.
***
Anau put his head against Zarra's, "So am I... so am I," "So are we just going to sit here and wait?" an Elite asked, "Wait for death to take us?" "What else can we do?" Anau responded. "I'd like to hold a Rifter by the throat as I die," another Elite chuckled. "Could we call for air support? There must be a Phantom, or something with wings still on this rock!" the first Elite panicked. Anau didn't reply, he just looked back up to the sky as the Frigate was finally nothing more than a speck. "This may not be how we pictured our deaths," Anau began, "But we must accept our fate. We must..." he gave up going any further and rested back on Zarra's head.
***
Finally Chandler brought the Warthog to a stop. Charlie remained seated and the gunner was silent. "This is just great. I'm dying because I was left behind," Charlie sighed. "What happened to 'no man left behind'?" the gunner asked, resting against the turret. "This is for Humanity," Chandler said, "We die today, but Humanity lives on tomorrow," "Sure, but where will they go?" the gunner asked, "No colony is safe," "That's not our problem, is it?" Chandler replied, "If anything, it's better we die today," "Instead of tomorrow," Charlie sighed, taking off her helmet and throwing it out of the vehicle.
(OoC: Actually, if anyone's got a creative idea as to how we escape, go ahead and do it. Otherwise I'll do my thing)

Mitch pulled his Warthog to a stop beside Charlie's and Chandler's and sat on the roll cage. "So this is it then?! This is where it all ends, huh!? I survive a Halo explosion! I lived after my drop pod crashed through a building! And now you're leaving US, the UNSC's f**king best! To die!" Mitch pulled off his helmet and watched the frigate rise, a tear began to fall down from his eye, but he quickly wiped it away. "When I die please bury me deep...!" he began. A couple soldiers looked at him. he brought a hand through his hair. "Place an MA5 down by my feet!" a couple other soldiers joined in on the PT drill chant. "Don't cry for me, don't shed no tear! Just pack my box wtih PT gear! 'Cuz one early morning 'bout zero-five! The ground will rumble, there'll be lightning in the sky!" soon more soldiers joined in. "Don't you worry, don't come undone! It's just my ghost on a PT run!" Mitch set his helmet down and watched the Frigate continue it's ascent. Cassy hopped off her Mongoose and stood beside the driver seat of Chandler's Warthog. ((SPARTAN)) "What the hell are they doing?!" Mitch asked Lachlan. "Are they just gonna leave them?!" he shook his head. "We should go back for them."

((OoC: I don't really have anything in mind. Go ahead with your plan, if no one else offers any ideas. )) The driver stared ahead blankly for a long time, then suddenly shouted to the sky, "This isn't fair!" He punched the steering wheel, making the horn honk, then bowed his head and cried. Zarra looked up. "Do not despair. Let's just try to enjoy what time we have," she said gently, "We all die eventually. It may be frightening, and I don't enjoy the thought of leaving this world with so much left undone, but I don't believe it will be unpleasant." The human ignored her, and pounded on the steering wheel again in frustration.

"this is why I f***ing left the UNSC....don't you get it they don't care about their troops they just care about their objectives and getting what they want" said Elias as he stopped the Mongoose. "they did the right thing they had to get the civilians out of here...unlike you the rest of us signed up to give our lives to defend these Civilians with our lives no matter the cost" said Otto. "but to be abandoned just like that" said Elias. "They waited as long as they could" said Otto. "but we were almost there" said Elias as he flipped the Mongoose over with Otto still on it.

((OoC: I guess we stall till Ares gets back. Characters that think they're doomed can be pretty amusing anyway; I don't mind watching their reactions a little longer. )) Zarra shook her head, deciding to ingore the humans, and turned back to Anau. He was all that really mattered to her now anyway. She sighed, thinking of all the things she had wanted, what she regreted not saying. There was no sence worrying about most of it now, but shouldn't she at least tell him what she could? "I was going to say yes," she finally said, quietly, "To your question before, about retiring. I was prepared to leave the military, as long as I was leaving it with you. I know it's too late now, but I thought you would want to know."

Lachlan's Pelican sat peacefully amongst the civilians in the crowded hanger of the Frigate. His head was resting on the Pelicans controls, "If we go back now, we'll be left behind too. That means one less Spartan in this war," he sat back up and looked at Mitch, "My hands are tied, I'm sorry. I know your cyborg wife or whatever is down there," Kelly then appeared on the pedestal next to Lachlan, "Leaving now is the right course of action, Spartan. There are hundreds of people still down there, but tens of thousands were rescued. We all fought well today," "Kelly... you really suck at being supportive," Lachlan sighed. She shrugged, "I tried," she then fadded away, and then suddenly appeared once again, "By the way, seems like the Elites are organising a rescue effort. Just thought you'd want to know," "What? When did you find this out?" asked Lachlan. "Not long ago?" she replied confused. Lachlan sat in thought and then nodded, "We're going back for them. Kelly, tell the Elite's we're helping. Mitch, take a seat; shit's gonna get bumpy."
***
Anau smiled and sighed happily, forgetting for a moment that their death was upon them. "I am glad," he said, kissing her on the cheek, "How is your leg?"
***
"I forgive you," Chandler sighed, starring at the grip he had on the steering wheel. He then looked at Cassy beside him, "For shooting me. Anyone could have made that mistake. Even me,"
Charlie looked up at the sky, "I wish my dad were here, so I could tell him how I really felt about him," "That's sweet," the gunner commented. "Yeah... I'd love to just slap that blind prick in the face and kick him out of that stupid wheelchair of his and sock him one right in the face," In complete shock, the gunner let out a surprised laugh.

Zarra smiled, glad to see Anau look so happy, then she looked down at her injured leg and tryed, gingerly, to put her weight on it again. "I've been trying not to think about it, but it still hurts," she sighed, "Especially when I try to stand on it. It might be a little better if we sat down."

Mitch sat in the pilot's seat and fiddled witht the controls until he was satisfied. As the Pelican left the hanger, a transmission came in. "Spartan, no one gave you permission to leave the hanger! Turn back now or this will be regarded as an act of treason!" Mitch frowned. "Then consider this my official resignation." he said, cutting off communications.

Zarra smiled at Anau, "Thank you." She tooked his hand in hers and looked at him, dreaming for a few moments that they were somewhere else, safe. Then her smile faded and she bowed her head sadly. 'Please,' she prayed, 'Not now. I was ready for this before, but not now.'((OoC: Aren't we going to get rescued soon? Because this planet is taking a pretty long time to blow up. ))

(ooc I can start off the rescuing I will only get the ships from orbit to the surface the rest is up to Ares and well after some thinking I have given Otto 3 swords instead of 1....a huge sword that is on his back and wrapped and 2 swords on his side both katanas...they all generate a small magnetic pulse to block energy swords...a thing developed by ONI and tested by him...they are prototypes and has to reforge them alot....sorry for the ramble) Otto got up off the tossed Mongoose and unwrapped "Gedrange" (ooc German for crush "Crusher") and he held the large sword (about the size of clouds sword) in his hand and stared and swung it for a moment before wrapping and putting it back on his back. "why don't you use that" asked Elias. "I only use him when nessacary...Gedrange is no toy" said Otto. "you also hardly use your other swords when in close quaters you use a shotgun" said Elias annoyed that Otto had these cool swords and after being with or against him he had omly seen them a few times in action. "Honor my friend...I will only draw a sword against a sword or against a worthy adversary or in an emergency....if you execuse me I am going to pray" said Otto as he kneeled and pulled rosary beads out from a armor pocket. He prayed the rosary in German and prayed his companions would be saved and if death was their destiny he prayed for their souls as well. *** Katar went up to the communications officer. "put me on to all of the fleet" said Katar. "done Councilor" said the officer. He then looked at Zaku. "pay attention...this is for you too" said Katar. He then gave the signal for the transmission to start. "my brothers....I fear another human world is suffering a fate we all know so well...destruction but I have graver news many of our brothers and sisters are still down there with the humans and we must save our brothers and the humans....instead of us condeming the humans to death like we have done countless amounts of times let us do them a favor and insteading of leaving them to die as we have before let us grant them another chance at life" said Katar. "all who are willing to risk their lives, crews and ships to grant those stranded on the surface another chance of life...go but if you chose not too then I respect your decision to not gamble more lives" concluded Katar. He walked to Zaku command chair. "the choice is yours Ship Master...I can not order you to risk your crew and ship for me" said Katar.
