Once Anau's pod had cleared the cloud line, he had a brief moment to look upon the Rifter ship that had 'docked' with the planet. It sat comfortably on the east side of the city, they would land towards the west with the rest of the Humans. His pod dived in between two sky scrapers and landed in the street. A few other pods landed around him, though we wasnt sure of the occupants.
His hatch burst open to reveal the special operations Elite with his arms crossed over his chest, and Plasma Rifles in his hands. Truly an intimidating sight. Unfortunately, there was no Rifter or Human around to gaze upon him. He leaped out of his pod and quickly scanned the streets. Abandoned vehicles littered the area, and only some signs of a firefight, possibly between police and Rifters. He moved away from his pod and crouched behind a vehicle. "This is Nadum, I'm on the ground."

Nesa's pod touched down almost immeadiatly after Anau's. Her hatch burst open and she jumped out while igniting her energy sword. "This is Nesa, I've joined Anau on the ground."

Zarra's pod hit the ground and she stumbled out, carbine ready, and scanned the area. She was at the edge of a small square. Another Elite had landed a few feet away and was fumbling with his weapon, still disoriented. "Major 'Yairum, on the ground," Zarra reported, stepping out cautiously into the empty street, wary of any hidden enemies, but at the same time hoping to spot the rest of the pods.

((ooc: Just a suggestion, but since I haven't heard of the odst's dropping with the rest of the humans, I think we should save them for a later time. Maybe as backup or something.))

Zaku watched the handheld holodisplay, and the diagnostics showed that all the coffin-like Sangheili drop pods had made it to the surface of New Jerusalem safely. The hulking Zealot shifted in his dazzling golden armor. It was a wonder anyone focused on anything without their eyes exploding, Zaku thought. The Sangheili Ship Master waited a few seconds to make sure the Elites were fine, before ordering the Assault Carrier brought up in one of his usual harebrained maneuvers that the bridge crew was now used to. He then walked to the huge chair sitting in the middle of the command nucleus, and sat down. Systems immediately lit up, and the chair lifted from the floor. The bulky command seat lifted, hovering. Zaku had always loved playing with the thing, but now wasn't the time- after all, ever since Half-Jaw had made it almost fashionable to use one, the rest of the Ship Masters now used them.
Zaku growled to his Ultra aide, "Order the main gunners to lay a covering fire with shield overloading Plasma spouts, then target the main Rifter Cruisers' weakest hull spaces with Needler rounds."
The Ultra bowed slightly in a succinct display of understanding, and stalked off to inform the gunner. The ornately fan-helmeted Councilor behind Zaku- what horrible scars the old Sangheili possessed!- growled in his harsh accent, "Venting the enemy's air? Interesting strategy... I always preferred the enging strike maneuver."
Zaku growled back at Councilor 'Vereem, "This time, it isn't humans, Councilor. We're fighting RIfters- they're far more dangerous."

" good tactic Ship Master" said Katar as he looked at the surface of the planet but quickly turned his attention back to the Ship Master and the Councilor. " just think what those who fought and died during the war would think now seeing the humans in one of their last strongholds...who knew even if we took out Earth that they had this back up plan" said Katar mainly to himself but it was still out loud.

((OoC: Well, how about some enemies to get things moving? I'll assume no one else is planning anything different, since no one is posting. )) The sound of a Rifter weapon firing, suddenly echoed through the square. Zarra heard the other Elite howl in alarm, as she dove for cover behind her pod. "Major 'Yairum, again," she said over her radio, "A Minor and I have come under fire. I'm not sure of our position in relation to the rest of you, but we shouldn't be more than a block away. Be careful." She glaced out trying to determine where the shot had come from, as another shot hissed by. She ducked back behind the pod. "We might need a little help," she added.

Nesa's comm immeadiatly intercepted the message. She looked at Anau. "Superior, our leader is in trouble. I recomend immeadiate assistance unless mission objective supseides it, sir." she said, putting her energy sword away and picking up a stray Beam Rifle.

"The well-being of Major Yairum always comes before the mission, understand?" Anau asked, lifting his head to hear the echoing gun fire, "She's close. Come." Anau moved out of the center of the street onto the sidewalk and began making his way towards Zarra with the female and another two squad members.

Zarra activated her camouflage. It wasn't perfect invisability, and since the enemy was apparently watching her hiding place carefully, it would probably only make her a little harder to hit, and, hopefully, give her enough time to figure out where the enemy was hiding. She skipped sideways out of cover, alert and scanning the square. A shot rang out, as she had predicted, and she followed the sound to a window, where she spotted movement. Zarra then rushed back to cover, not reaching it before another shot took down her shields and grazed her arm. "Major, are you..." began the Minor. "I'm fine," Zarra replied, "I've spotted him. He's in the building across from us, three stories up, and five windows across from the right."

Zaku glared at the battle statistical analysis. The hologram before him showed the Rifter fleet and Sangheili warships battling in intense, close-up combat. Plasma and kintetic rounds banged off hulls, and missiles and mortars vented ships to the void. The Ship Master looked at the fighter statistics- a group of ten Banshees was headed for a skirmish run over a group of Rifter forces- dangerously near the group of Sangheili who had just dropped in. Zaku keyed his comm to the Banshees, growling, "Back off a bit- we don't want the infantry to get caught in the explosions."
-----------------------------
The Banshees attempted to pull away some, but it only mostly worked- two were struck by the sudden missile barrage from the Rifter fortifications. One of the purple fighters detonated in the air, spraying the Forerunner descendants with shrapnel, but the other was simply struck in the wing. It rocked, and went down, but towards the wrong area. Its pilot, obviously killed by the concussive strike, couldn't stop the Banshee from plummeting towards the square with some of the pods in it, due to his deceased state. It whizzed towards the drop pods... and it was hopeful that it would miss.

Anau peered around a corner to see Zarra take a hit from a Rifter concealed in a building, luckily her shields took most of the blow and she moved back into cover. "Good thing you found that rifle," he said, turning around to face the female, "Scan the windows, you should find-" The cry of a Banshee; a welcoming sound for some, terrifying for others. 'Air support?' Anau wondered, turning to the sky to see a Banshee spinning out of control, "Quickly sniper, this is may distract the Rifter shooter."

"Yes sir, on it, sir." Nesa answered. She scanned her surroundings and found a small building she could set up post in. Running to the second story, she got comfortable and focussed her Beam Rifle on the Rifter. "Estimated distance is forty metres. Adjusting..." she said to herself, hitting the Rifter in the stomach.

"Haha!" Zarra cheered, glancing back out just in time to see the Rifter fall. "Ma'am!" cried the Minor. Zarra turned to see the Banshee spiraling toward them. She dove away as the vehicle slammed into one of the pods and flipped, landing behind them. In a moment, Zarra was on her feet again and rushing over to see if the pilot had survived.
