"What's happened?" Chandler asked, stepping onto the bridge after his first, and hopefully only, emotional outburst.
"The Rifters have followed us," Commander Kieth Sanderson replied, reading the technical readout on the main screen.
"How do you know?" Chandler asked, stepping beside him and folding his arms as he read.
"We've been dropping buoys, sending them off in all directions, hoping they'd catch a false trail. We've lost connection with every single buoy we've dropped," Sanderson replied.
"So we're doomed then," the Spartan stated, "Or it has bought us time,"
"Time we've used to our advantage. The Rifters will attack from behind, so we've rearranged the fleet; civilians in front, UNSC in back,"
"Ok," the Spartan simply replied, then turning to leave.
"That's not all, Spartan," Commander Sanderson sighed, "We're en route to New Jerusalem,"
"The colony?" Chandler asked.
"Indeed. The Rifters have began an assault on the planet, from what we've heard, the fleet is considerably smaller, and their intentions don't seem to be to destroy the planet, like they did Earth,"
"And how do you know that, sir?" Chandler asked, "We cant risk more Human lives, the very existence of our species hangs in the balance. A very shift balance, sir,"
The Commander put his hand on the screen and with one flick of his wrist, the screen was cleared. He then reached down to the corner of the screen and brought up a video.
"Is anyone reading this? Hello!?"
Chandler stepped forward and watched as the screen sizzled and flashed until finally the image of a paniked woman in the middle of what seemed to be a firefight appeared.
"Any UNSC ships or personnel, please respond!"
The woman held a surveillance drone close to face as she begged for help. "We're under attack! Earth, come in! Why isn't anyone responding to me? Hello!?"
She then lifted the camera above her head to reveal Rifter cruisers descending from a red sky and Rifter forces marching across the battlefield. "Can you see this!? What the hell is happening!? We need reinforcements!"
A sudden explosion propelled the camera away from the woman and damaged it, there was no longer audio. The camera was now positioned at a horrific angle. Bodies of countless Marines filled a trench while those that survived stood on top of them, firing over the wall. The woman could be seen leaning against the trench wall, screaming.
"Enough of this," Chandler sighed, "This more than likely happened on Earth, it's too late for Jerusalem,"
"No, it didn't," Sanderson replied, "Watch,"
A Rifter suddenly leaped into the trench, destroying what Humans stood against him with his ancient weaponry. More Rifters leaped over the trench, but did not join in. They took those that were injured away, out of the cameras view. The camera then suddenly rose up, and scanned across the battefield. The Humans had clearly lost this battle, but there was still some hope. The camera revealed scenes of Humans being piled into Rifter ships, living Humans. The camera then dropped to the ground and the transmission was terminated.
Chandler stood in front of the screen in shock.
"I'm not waiting for your thumbs up, Spartan," Sanderson said quietly, "The Rifters don't want to destroy New Jerusalem, they want to dominate it. It's a colony we didn't lose to the Covenant and we sure as hell wont lose it to these Forerunner rejects."
Chandler nodded and left the bridge. He was angry he was forced to run with the rest of fleet, with the rest of Humanity. He knew this was suicide and pleased about it, but he trusted Sanderson had a plan for at least the civilians. He decided to head to the armory. His shields needed adjusting and he figured he should get the good weapons before the rest of the UNSC found out about this plan to liberate New Jerusalem.
(OoC: Sup? So yeah, I have a plan, so chill for now. This thread will suddenly take off once some events take place, so yeah. Basically we're gonna go to New Jerusalem, and none of your characters know about it, unless you have a Spartan or any other high ranking character. Toodles.)
