The hospital.
Atlas walked out towards the armoured vehicle and took note of the strange and suspicious military force. "Hey," Carrie said from behind him. "What was that thing that attacked you?" "An Engineer, they're supposed to be friendly, according to these guys," Atlas replied. "Why'd you kill it then?" she asked. "I didn't, they did," he replied. "... then, why did they kill it?" she asked again. "I don't know Carrie, maybe because ONI doesn't know shit," he said finally, then jogging off towards the vehicle.

Meanwhile, at the Lacewing Industry building...
Taking cover behind pillars, in elevators, behind couches and desks, the Quartz of Cambridge mercenary force engaged the Covenant in the lobby. The security guard took off towards some cover while Mandy hid in the stairwell.
The Brutes really didn't care much for what lay inside the building, they merely engaged because of it's Human presence. God knows what they're doing inside unprotected buildings...
The mercs were armed with their own weapons, designed to tear through flesh, not shields and armour. In the roof of the building, automated security turrets descended and began tearing through the Brutes and Grunts.

"Running low!" Mitch barked as he finished off his last amount of ammunition from his Assault Rifle. He ducked behind cover and crawled back to Mandy. "Alright, we're almost screwed. Take this," he said, handing her his Automag. "You'll need it eventually." he said, going back into the fight with his M7S.

"Emergency lockdown engaged," Captain, the building AI chimed. Heavy metal doors suddenly slammed down, shutting out all source of light. What Brutes were left in the lobby were quickly exterminated. "I bet they're interested now," one of the guards yelled. "Wont be long before they cut through that!" another yelled. "I say we lettem take the building and get our asses out of here!" the security guard yelled. Although it was now safe, the men still remained in their cover, still shaken from the rush of Covenant soldiers. Mandy was the first to emerge, she exited from the stairwell with the automag in her hand. "What do we do now?" she asked. "You need to be evacuated. And trooper, thanks for the help, but you should be on your way, you're probably needed else where," a soldier said, reloading his rifle. "Hey guys, look!" one cheered. "The Brutes, they're leaving!" he said, looking at a computer screen. Mandy rushed over with a few other soldiers and watched as the Brutes grew tired of throwing their grenades at the door. They then stumbled away in search of trouble. "Didn't you say you needed to get to the hospital?" Mandy asked the trooper. "The hospital? Why do you need to go there?" one of the soldiers asked, shouldering his rifle and approaching the trooper, when suddenly the radio came to life. "Lobby, what's your status?" a QC soldier on the radio asked. "Secured, what's the situation at the hospital?" the soldier with the rifle on his shoulder replied. "We've run into a problem, a pair of ODSTs crashed our party," the radio said. "What a coincidence, one crashed ours as well," he continued with a smirk. "They say the hospital was their LZ, and now it's their rendezvous point," Both ends of the radio went silent while the soldier shouldering his rifle thought. "Gimme that, this is Private Ndiaye, who's the trooper there?"

Mitch sighed, and de polarized his visor, "UNSC Lance Corporal Mitch Edwin Johnson. Newly annointed commander of Archangel Squad, first battlegroup." he answered. "Who're the two ODSTs?"

"Mitch? It's Atlas, you're in command now? That's bullshit," there was some muffling of the mic and Carrie took over. "Mitch, we're at the hospital. We havent heard from anyone else since the drop, how about?"

Mitch was slightly relieved when he heard Carrie. Altas kinda annoyed him there. "Not a soul. Dante is still offline. Plus to make things worse, HIGHCOM still hasen't reastablished connection with this system." he thought for a second, "Hey, Carrie. Atlas. I have an idea. Wait at the Hospital for another hour. After that, head to the ONI facility. We'll bring Dante back online."

"Roger that sir, holding pos-" the Lacewing merc then suddenly cut the connection. "Hey, why'd you do that?" Carrie asked. "You got your orders, we need to keep our battery power up," the merc replied. Carrie frowned and left the APC with Atlas. "So what now?" the merc in charge asked. "We hold out here for an hour until our CO arrives," Atlas replied. "Good. If he's not here in an hour then assume he's dead and leave the area," he said, turning his back and walking back inside the hospital. "Fine with me." Atlas sighed.

Mitch paused, "Carrie? Atlas? Come in. Crap." he sighed. He turned to one of the QoC, "What's the fastest route to hospital? And where can I find ammo?"

"From here? Just follow the highway, but I would recommend taking the backstreets," Many replied. "As for ammo," began a soldier. "Find it in the street," he said, openning the emergency lockdown door for Mitch to leave, "Take the woman with you," "Wait, what? No way I'm going out there!" she yelled. "Keep it down lady, and besides, you have that trooper."

"You have got to be f**king joking..." he groaned, polarizing his visor and picking up some stray Assault Rifle ammo. "Alright, lady, you're with me." he turned to the QoC mercs, "Thanks for the help. Keep this place secured." he said as he picked up a 'Patten' and extra ammo for it off of a desk and left with Mandy.

(OoC: The f**k? How'd you know their rifles are called Pattens?)
"Heh, yeah, don't worry trooper, we'll keep this place secure," he laughed, followed by the chuckles of the men around him. The door shut behind them and Mandy was left standing with the ODST in the deserted street. "Ok, so we go to the hospital. Then what?"

Atlas and Carrie both decided to sit down on a public while they waited for Mitch. When they sat, Atlas was immediatly hit in the arm by Carrie. "What was that for?" he asked. "Why dont you like Mitch?" she asked. "Why do you? He's an ex-con for one thing, and he's been with the Archangels for what, an hour and he's already in command? We've been with these guys for months, one of us should be in charge," Atlas replied. "First of all, would you want to be in command of this mess?" she said, looking out at the city. "And two, he was in prison for something he didn't do," "So he says, anyway," Atlas huffed. "So Shaw said, as well. And if he trusts him, why the hell can't you?" Carrie asked. She had him there. Atlas went quiet and looked over the mercs guarding the entrance to the hospital. "Anyway, i've been thinking about the Engineer," Carrie began, "what did it do, exactly?" "Took my rifle and threw it away, then these guys came in," Atlas replied. "What did you notice about it?" she asked. "It was piss scared, I think. I couldn't tell," Atlas replied again. "What kind of weapons do these guys have?" "Did it cross your mind that maybe the thing was begging for help? That it was running away from those soldiers?" she asked. Atlas looked down at the Engineers splattered guts on his armour. "Maybe, then why did it disarm me?" "Maybe it was tired of being shot at," she suggested.

((I have a good memory of Lacewing's tech.))
"We go to the hospital. Then, we go to the ONI building. Reacivate Dante." Mitch replied, inspecting this new rifle and making his way to the hospital. "You guys called it a Patten... There a reason?"

"Anything related to QC is none of your business," she replied, "You're not meant to know these guys are here, so, when writing your report after this mess, I would appreciate that you didn't mention them."
Atlas considered what Carrie had said, but didn't care. Only thing that mattered was now the thing was dead. He stood up in boredom and began pacing in front of Carrie. "Stop that," she said. "I'm bored," he replied.

((Hidden Message )) Mitch checked his VISR's map. "Hold up, lady." he said as he browsed through his map. "We're close. If we keep going alo-" he was interupted by a violent rumble. "Must be nothing." he said to Mandy. But as he and Mandy progressed, the rumbling became more violent and the ground was shaking now. "Oh hell no." he groaned as he looked down the street. It was a Scarab. "Lady! C'mon! Hide!" He said trying to pull her into a destroyed convenient store's window. "Lady that's a Scarab! c'mon!"

Mandy stood in the middle of the street in shock. She then dropped the automag and ran for the window, but stopped halfway, returned to the automag, picked it up, ran back and dived into the shop.

"A what?" a QC soldier yelled, trying to boost the radios transmission, "Saddle up boys, we got us a Scarab!" "Damn," Atlas sighed. "What kind of fire power do you guys have?" Carrie asked as QC soldiers ran for their APC. "Just our trucks turret," one replied, jumping into the APC. Atlas took Carrie by the arm and led her inside the hospital, the guard had left, "If these guys want to engage, that's there business. We're staying here, got it?"
