After hearing the intercom, Anau took up his Carbine and slipped on his helmet. "Don't worry, they will," he told Zarra. He stepped outside the room and looked in the direction of the hanger. "Time to go,"

Zarra picked up her weapons and followed. "I'm coming," she grumbled, "Hardly anyone listens to me as it is. I mean you and Katar don't ignore me, but there was this group of Minors I was supposed to be leading in a training exercise and they did not listen to a word I said. It wasn't the first time either, one time... Oh nevermind, I'll be quiet now."

Meanwhile, back in the forest...
The recon team continued to move out, but Russell heard something. "What was that?" he asked. He then continued to move with the team, thinking "Eh, must have been a squirrel."
He was wrong on all accounts.

The forest was dark, the trees leaning over like angry, avenging sentinels of the deep wood, their boughs leaning over the small team as it made it's way into the forest under the leader of the SPARTAN Master Chief Matt-081. It was strangely devoid of wildlife and the sounds of wildlife, although it was evident that something must be alive in these woods, something must have killed the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, and something could be watching them even now. The leaf mould and dirty, damp forest floor made soft crunching sounds beneath Matt's booted feet, as he held two Spikers out before him, the light of their blasts also acting as a beacon should it come to attack.
Sound. Matt hadn't heard anything in the entirety of his time in the forest, yet he could have sworn he'd heard something off to his right, into the forest away from the small team. Dropping to one knee and wheeling his blasters around towards the direction of the sound, he carefully surveyed the forest, silently strafing it with his gun, without shooting yet. "Don't make a sound." He quickly whispered, his knee sinking into the soft mud around him like a ball into a socket. One blaster facing one way, the other facing towards the direction of the sound, he waited, slowly, adrenalin thumping through his body and blood pounding in his ears.
He felt like a well honed blade, sharp and ready for action. As a slight whistling sound echoed out, Matt knew to roll out the way, the bamboo dart doing no more than clipping his armoured ankle as he swung his Spikers up to launch a barrage of red hot needles towards the enemy. There was a loud thump as a humanoid shape fell from a tree, rapidly cooling needles emerging from it's body as if it were a pin cushion. "Stop!" Matt cried, into the forest, looking around whilst keeping his blasters raised. "We mean no harm!" A bamboo dart fired once again was his answer. Firing rapidly, shattering the bark of a tree and piercing it's leaves as he did so, Matt cried to the others around him: "We're under attack!"

Russell promptly whipped out his AR and opened fire.
He aimed and made a good suppression spray through the forest as Matt fired his Spikers. He quickly added to Matt's response, "Come on! This isn't your Aunt Fanny's dance! Start shooting already!"
(OoC: "Aunt Fanny's Dance" came from the first tutorial level of the first Call of Duty. Cpt Foley said that.)

Charlie took up her battle rifle and aimed to the trees, if she fired blindly she'd attract too much attention to herself. She looked down in the direction Matt was firing, which kept changing. She then looked back at the ODST's to see a few had taken cover and a few others were still kneeling in plain sight, one of them was Johnny. Charlie crawled over and grabbed him from behind the helmet, then dragging him behind a tree. "Un-hand me woman!" Johnny cried. "How'd you know it was me?" Charlie asked, dropping him down. "Who else would drag me out of that?" Johnny replied, going back to back with her. "Aw, that's sweet," Charlie said, unloading nine rounds in the direction of something she thought she saw.

The sounds of gunfire were somewhat muted by the standard issue silencers, although the harsh screeches of laser fire were impossible to stop altogether. As a number of the hidden assassins dropped silently from the trees, not emitting a single sound despite the obvious pain they must have been in, Matt swung his rifle round to bear on one of the others, sending a branch whipping into his face before dropping him like a stone, the arms of the creature whipping up into the air, almost comically, before he fell to the ground with a crunch. As Matt's allies kept the others busy, Matt pushed off with his feet into one of the trees, smacking the figure inside a heavy blow to the side of what he thought was the head. As he fell to the ground, Matt landed heavily alongside him, pinning him down.
His captive was alive and fully functional, despite having been knocked unconscious by Matt's blows. As Matt, holding one arm over the captive in case he came to whilst looking around wildly for the enemies fired into another one, the sound of laser fire began to halt; as silently as the attackers had come, they'd vanished, like smoke. Perhaps they'd killed off the patrol, or whatever it was. Somehow, Matt doubted that. He doubted that very much indeed. The smell of the laser blasts in the air was still evident, the cordite used to power them hanging heavy. Beckoning to the others, some of the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers forming a ring around him, Matt looked over at the prisoner.
He looked human, or at least human in origin, yet he obviously wasn't. His skin was a distinct shade of what could only be described as orange, and his arms were slightly longer than those of a human. In addition, his head was bald, and no evidence of hair at all existed - it seemed he didn't have, and never had have had, hair. A painted bark mask covered his face and, as Matt removed it, it revealed little more about their captive. He still resembled a human facially. As he began to come around, Matt signalled to another Orbital Drop Shock Trooper to pin his arms down, and to ensure he didn't try anything. The man's eyes snapped open and, as Matt turned to the others, he softly asked: "Any questions for our friend here?"

"yes I have one..what species are you" said Specs. "why are you attacking us we have done nothing to harm you without being attack first" asked Sarah who examined the creature. Specs keeped his eyes peeled for any of this creatures buddies who wanted revenge firing a warning shot into the air and moving his katanas sling over his shoulder and hanging from his hip ready to be drawn.

"It's Human, well, maybe not anymore," Charlie examined from a safe distance. "Hey," she said, aiming her rifle. "Where's the rest of your buddies?"

Meanwhile up in Orbit. "sheilds are down and we are taking quite a beating there are too many of them" said Inwa. "keep firing we must punch a hole to the surface" said Katar. "engines are have been hit and they are offline" said an Elite. "damn it brace for impact the planets gravity is going to pull us to the surface" said Inwa. "do we have enough power for a gravlift to keep the ship afloat once we near the surface" asked Katar. "no" said Inwa. The ship was hit with a missle in the rear causeing the remaining fuel to catch on fire accelerating the ships snail pace fall to the surface to a faster more dangerous speed. "Atention brace for impact..attention all crew members brace for impact" said Inwa over the intercomn.

The ship lurched violently and Zarra was thrown against a wall. She searched for something to hang on to, but before she could find anything, the ship rocked again, and she was thrown to the opposite wall. She finaly found a handhold and managed to hang on, but just barely.

"The engines must have exploded!" yelled an elite to another. "We have to get out before the rest of the ship does!" replied the elite. "On your feet commander," he continued, scrambling over to Anau and lifting him off the ground. "There's no time," Anau groaned. "By the time we find a vacant pod it would be too late, we must brace ourselves for impact!" he yelled over the cries of the falling Cruiser.
Anau positioned himself in an open door way, he kept his foot firmly against the frame and his hands on the ground.

Zarra pulled herself along the wall toward a small recess that seemed a little safer. She reached for it but there wasn't another handhold close enough. She would have to let go and hope that she could keep her balance. As soon as she let go, she lost her balance and fell. She started to try to get up, but a heavy piece of debris hit her. Then something only slightly smaller hit the side of her head, and she lost consciousness.

Katar grabbed a computer terminal and Inwas hand with a vice grip. He stopped and took his sword out jaming it into the terminal so he would have a better grip on the terminal. The Carrier came closer to the surface gaining speed as it fell. "we need something to slow us down or the impact will crush us" said Katar. "don't worry we will be fine it we can take a hit" said Inwa. "maby you can but I am not as young as I used to" said Katar. "you'll make you have survived worse then this" said Inwa. "yes but I may have cheated death to many times" said Katar. "don't worry you will continue cheating death till he can keep up with you" said Inwa who grinned. *** Several Orbital Insertion Pods ejected from the carrier with the lucky or cowardly Elites depending on how you saw the situation and landed around the scattered postions of Emerald Cove a group landing near the debris of the walker and others in a littered field (the old camp site).
Jekk' Quitonm emerged from his pod and saw the empty beer bottles and ashes from a fire. "humans most of been here" said the Ultra. He sent out a beacon to his location so other Elites would be able to get to this postion and wait for the Councilor and Ship Misstress to arrive with the remaining Elites that would survive the crash...if they survived that is. "what do we do now" asked a Minor Elite. "we wait for the others to come here" said Jekk. "I am a coward" thought Jekk. "abandoning the Ship Misstress". Jekk then removed his helmet and branded himself with the mark of shame with his energy sword. The Minor stared at him in fear. "why did you do that brother who have commited no shame" said the Minor. "because I took the cowards way out to save myself from the harm that may of came to me if I stayed aboard" said Jekk.

The ship had passed through Emerald Coves atmosphere and for just a moment, the ship was at peace. Though the sound of flames and the odd explosion continued, the terrible shaking had ceased and wind was rushing though the halls. Anau took in this feeling and closed his eyes.
