(OoC: This skirmish should probably end soon, because it's getting pretty boring and we're not really going anywhere with it. I want to hurry up and get to the tower.)
After Zarra's shields charged she started after the Grunt, but then heard something that made her stop. She looked over and saw a wounded Elite nearby. The Minor lay on the ground, holding his arm and groaning. Zarra forgot about the Grunt and hurried over to the other Elite. She helped him into some better cover and took a look at his arm. It had been torn up by a spike grenade and he was losing blood rapidly. Another Minor took cover with Zarra and the wounded Elite. Zarra took hold of the Minor's wrist before he could rejoin the fight again. "Find the Arbiter," She ordered, "Tell him to send for a medic." The minor glanced at the other Elite's wounds and winced. "There are more wounded," he said, "some worse than him..." "I know," said Zarra, "and I have the training to help them, but not supplies. Now go!" "Yes, ma'am," said the Minor with a nod. As soon as he left cover he was hit with a volley of spikes and fell. Zarra growled with frustration but didn't dare leave cover now. The Brutes had her cornered.

The two Phantoms opened fire on the enemey and quickly deployed the troops aboard and left. " I am yours to serve Arbiter" said Katar over the comm to Razo. He drew his Needlers and loaded a fresh clip into them as they had not been touched since The Battle of the Ark.

Zaku paced through the streets, walking toward the gated walls surrounding the tower. The gold-armored Zealot activated his comm, and sending a private message to the two Majors on the other side of the barrier. "Maso, Yell, where are you?"
After a brief burst of static, one of the Majors replied. "Ship Master, we are all clumped under some rubble by a gate.. Ah. We see you."
"Good," Zaku replied. "I shall be right over. The Arbiter should be on his way. We will not have to wait much longer."

As Anau ran towards Zarra, he opened fire with his dual Plasma Rifles. He took down one Brute, wounding another and forcing one more behind cover. He stood where the Minor did and waited for his Plasma Rifles to cool. He glanced down at the wounded Minors arm. "Can you stop the bleeding?"

Zarra shook her head. "Not with what we have here," she sighed, "We need supplies, and reinforcements. These Brutes are hindering us and thining our numbers, precisely what they were sent to do. We need some way to end this quickly."

The sword burned through the skin of the Brute and sent it downwards at an alarming speed, the smell of burnt hair reaching the senses of the Arbiter as he pulled the Energy Sword from the beasts chest, leaving it to rot in the street. A second emerged from the overturned vehicle beside the road and swung its fist at Razo violently, only to be greeted with the burning of plasma as a shot smashed into its chest, sending it stumbling backwards before falling sharply into a pothole caused by an explosion, snapping its neck as the intense weight carried by the beast pressured its spine upon the crash.
Two more brutes approached the Arbiter quickly, one wielding a Plasma Rifle while the other held an energy sword firmly. Red plasma bolts began smashing into the ground around Razo, causing him to sprint left behind a rather large piece of rubble from a destroyed building nearby. Razo spray fired the remainder of ammo within the Plasma Rifle he had gained from a downer enemy and threw it aside as residue began erupting from either side of the rifle, burning his hand slightly. The sudden movement from his right startled Razo, the second Brute wielding the Energy Sword moved in for a strike, only to meet the blade of the Arbiters very own. Swiftly, the brute drew the sword back and struck again, only to have the strike parried away by Razo, who them struck the blade through the brutes chest, ending its life almost instantaneously.
As the brute dropped to the ground, Razo scanned the street, they seemed to be vanquished, for now.
"Proceed to the Tower before they call reinforcements, help the wounded, leave the dead."

A Minor cheered as the remaining enemies retreated. Another came forward and picked up the sword the Brute had been using. "The vermin had no right to carry this," he declared, glaring down at the dead Brute. More than half of the Minors appeared to be dead or too wounded to stand, but the Brutes had lost more. Zarra kept her attention on the Minor she had rescued, using a strip of torn cloth from his armor to make tourniquet. It slowed the bleeding, but it would only give him a little more time. "Can you not call in another Phantom to evacuate the wounded?" Zarra asked, turning toward the Arbiter, "This one at least is in no shape to travel with us."

Zaku climbed through a hole in the gate made by one of the Elite's plasma rifles. The gold-armored Zealot, although large, slipped through the hole easily. He stepped onto the other side, and broke the lock with his plasma rifle. It snapped off, and the gate swung outward for when the other Elites would arrive. The Ship Master dashed over to where the other Elites were clumped in the rubble.
"Major, how long have you waited?"
"About twenty minutes, sir."
"The others are being stalled... Hold on."
The Sangheili reached for the comm on his helmet, tapping it on. He spoke into the speaker on his upper right mandible. "Yara- bring the Sleek Shadow to where the Arbiter is. I saw many wounded Minors when I left, and I doubt the Arbiter would wish them to die now."

The message from the Zealot was heard by the Arbiter, he turned to Zarra and nodded.
"I believe the Zealot had a similar idea."
Razo turned to two Majors who were firing into the bodies littering the ground, making sure all who lie in pain were put out of there misery, it was more for the sake of eliminating any possible chance of survivors, however... the brutes deserved no less then genocide.
"You two, stay with the wounded until the ship arrives, stay hidden and do not engage the enemy." Razo commanded, de-activating his energy sword and picking up the second he had dropped earlier.
A small movement made by a brute in the corner of the Arbiters eye caused him to activate the sword once more, however. Razo moved over to the body on the ground and slit the beasts throat, causing the beast to wheeze and cough for a moment before becoming silent and still.
"Follow my lead, brothers, make haste." Razo said as he began moving off through the street, the looming image of the tower floating on the horizon. So close, yet so far.

Anau watched as the troops advanced to the tower. "I don't think you need me here anymore," Anau said, stepping out of his cover and into the middle of the street. "Rejoin the conflict as soon as you can," he said, running towards the Tower.

The Phantom arrived after a few minutes, and Zarra helped the drop ship's crew with the wounded, while the other two Majors stood guard. As soon as the wounded were safely on board, the Phantom took off, leaving Zarra and the two Majors behind. The three Elites hurried through the streets and finally caught up with the rest of the group when they were within a few blocks of the tower. The two Majors hurried to the middle of the group to find their friends. Zarra quickly found Anau and walked beside him as they came nearer to their destination. "The Minor should live," she said, hopefully. "I'm afraid he'll lose that arm though," she added with a sigh, "I feel sorry for him. Barely an adult and he gets wounded like that..." She shook her head, wanting to change the subject. She took a moment to scan the streets but there wasn't an enemy in sight. Perhaps they had all gathered at the tower. She still kept an eye on the streets and her weapons ready. "Anyway," she said quietly, glancing at Anau with a smile, "In response to what you said before you went running off: Don't ever think that I don't need you. I did manage to get back to the rest of you without any trouble, and I can look after myself, but I don't know how I lived through all the messes I got myself into before I had you around." She smiled again, "I truly appreciate your help. I suppose that's what I'm trying to say."

"I knew you would have been able to make it back without a problem and I have no doubt you can look after yourself, you've proven you can countless times, which is why I was confident I could leave you to rejoin the others," Anau replied. "But you did need me this time," he added with a chuckle, continuing the walk. "I'm glad to hear the minor will live, he owes you his thanks," Anau smiled. "I appreciate your help as well," he suddenly added. "You've saved my life many times, not necessarily from wounds or oncoming fire, just the thought of you heals any cuts or scars I have." he smiled.

Zaku peered from the rubble at the tower. He saw.. a Jackal Marksman! The beam rifle in its hand must be gone... He elbowed the Elite next to him, murmuring something. The Elite pulled the carbine off its back, took careful aim, and fired. The Jacakl fell several stories before hitting the ground.
The gold-armored Zealot turned to face the hole in the gate. Where were they?

Zarra nodded, smiling back, "Pain doesn't seem to be as strong now, sorrows are easier to forget, but fear," her smile faded a little, "Fear is stronger; there is more to be lost." She looked at him, now with worry on her face, "I fear for you. There is so much I want to tell you, but I'm afraid to say it. And yet, at the same time, I'm afraid I won't have another chance." She looked away, "But this is not the time for this. We can finish this conversation later, somewhere safer. Until then, I just want you to be careful."

Verllan'a gazed at the wartorn city in the darkness. 'Will they ever stop?' She wondered off into her thoughts, knowing that the war still go on, but never knowing when it will end. * * * "Verllan'a? Hello? We're here!" Rane' tapped her armour. "Oh, I'm sorry, I kind of... dozed off." She grabbed a Carbine from the canister, and Rane', a beam rifle. Rane' tapped the COM - "Sir, we have arrived, we'll catch up with the squad any minute now."
