I'm a bit insane over the Ryno now, so I decided to make this: the BFG list. A list of BFGs. BFGs are big f*cking guns, if you didn't get the memo already.
RYNO V ( images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090904234929/ratchet/images/0/09/RYNO_V.jpg )
I have to start with this one. Anyways, RYNO stands for Rip Ya A New One. That's what it'll do. It has two outer barrel mechs and a center barrel. Upon firing, the outer barrels spin and fire mini-missiles at bullet speed, and the center barrel fires giant homing missiles. The classic factor: it plays the 1812 Overture when you fire it. That's epic.
BFG 9000 ( images4.wikia.nocookie.net/doom/images/thumb/d/de/BFG9000.png/189px-BFG9000.png )
No other BFG would exist today without the BFG 9000. It is the defacto classic WMD: a large gun which fires rapid-fire balls of green plasma. It melts more faces than the shred-ing-est guitar solo you ever heard. The sad part: in the Doom movie it's named the Bio Force Gun instead of the Big F*cking Gun. Good name, but still.
Cerebral Bore ( 3.bp.blogspot.com/_HN_U8xQyZOs/S2y4G-nR-pI/AAAAAAAAAKY/Ghd_-jQrr8Q/s400/112355-cerebral_bore_super.jpg )
This is a headshot BFG. It fires brain-seeking ammo which stabs into someone's head and sucks out their spinal fluid. I think it uses it as a pyrotechnic material, because shortly afterwards it detonates, leaving behind a headless corpse.
Experimental MIRV ( pix.motivatedphotos.com/2009/1/2/633664853860177403-ExperimentalMIRV.jpg )
In Fallout 3 there is a weapon called the Fat Man, which shoots mini nuclear bombs. One at a time. If Fat Man is a spicy cayenne pepper, then the Experimental MIRV is capsaican (the stuff used in pepper spray). Unlike the Fat Man, the MIRV fires eight mini nuclear bombs at once. The only problem with this gun: Mini Nukes are relatively rare. Good luck getting ammo for this thing.
Land Shark Gun ( media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/5457/541259-landsharkand_large.jpg )
I don't need to explain this, but oh well. This gun fires a rapidly maturing Land Shark infant, which swims through the ground faster than Chuck Norris, and promptly breaches the dirt to devour your enemies. Yes, it's a gun that fires f*cking sharks.
Type 52 Guided Munitions Launcher/Explosive ( gruntsrus.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Reach_5F00_MPBeta_5F00_PlasmaLauncher2_2D00_w1280.jpg )
Yes, that's right, Halo finally has its own BFG. For those of you that haven't played the Reach demo (no spoilers here Danny, don't worry), the Type 52 is a gun which fires four homing plasma grenades. If you didn't hear correctly, they're flying spiders. Though it requires charge time, it has to be satisfying to stick your enemy four times at once.
If you see and/of hear of any more weapons which would qualify as a BFG, just add it to the list.
BFG criteria:
Must be large
Must be the most devastating weapon in the game it is in to a degree where firing one would be considered a war crime
CANNOT BE A REAL GUN (I must not stress this enough)
Cannot be a vehicle: it must be a gun
