Has anyone ever noticed that the most anticipated titles for the Xbox 360, Wii, and PS3 didn't meet the expectations set by fans? Respectively, those games are Halo 3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. While all of them made high sells in their first days and recieved generally high reviews, many of them mentioned how the games failed to live up to their expectations, either in gameplay, story, music, or, in the case of some of these games, a combination of some.
So, discuss. How ironically funny is it that some of the most anticipated titles turned out to be average?

Well, I'd have to say MGS4 didn't not live up to its expectations. It won Best PlayStation Game of the Year.
Halo 3 sucked in storyline.
SSBB was actually a very nice game. But since I don't know the commands, I'm reduced to buttonmashing and using the Final Smashes when I can get them.
