Anyways, to breathe some life into The Debate Room, here we could suggest possible ideas for fixing the spill, and then debate them. Maybe one of them might work...

I've got no idea, I could only suggest capping the leak, which they've already done. I guess they cant simply close a seal or something in the pipe to cut off the flow of oil, but that would be too easy so of course they can't do that

How about they build an oil rig that is up to safety standards and listen to the inspectors and workers saying this thing is not safe....you know so an oil spill does not happen... . Curse you Oil Companies and your money saving dangerous ways. The cap and ships getting the oil and they wells to take the oil are good. Now we just get some oil eating bacteria in the water to clean the polluted water we are good . If only we could collect all the polluted water and launch it into space....or freeze it to somehow get the oil out for use...or you know just out. I know seawater does not freeze but thats why I am not an Oil Company Executive designed to fix spills caused by my lack of concern for safety but only for teh monies.

Well, oil is lighter than water, so I supposed if we refined the water we might be able to split the oil from it later.
Grunt Pope: Well, too late for that. Deepwater Horizon was doomed from the start. At least it wasn't a space program project...
And they did cap it: but the cap's off now. I'm not sure if they'll cap it again: they're actually running out of options at this point. I'd say that the new plan is to basically wait it out.

Heard of it, but now I watched it.
And now BP's trying to build a new cap. Stupid f*cktards.

Either I am literally in the future or I'm not up with what's going on, but I'm pretty sure they made a new cap already and have already capped it again.

No, I ended up watching CNN for some reason and apparently they have blueprints for a new cap.
