Vlad stood out of breath in an elevator as it decended down to the lowest levels of the UNSC Headquatars. He and Cassandra would soon be able to reactivate the battlenet.
***
The ship they were on suddenly rumbled; the fight for Earth had began. Lachlan powered up the Pelicans engines and hovered slightly off the floor. Atlas, Carrie and Charlie came running, quickly jumping into the Pelican. "Sorry we're late!" Atlas yelled. The Pelican spun around and faced the hangers exit. Four other Pelicans then lifted off the floor and pointed at the same closed door. "Ladies and gentlemen this is your Captain speaking, today's in flight movie will be the sequel to the critically acclaimed 'Earth Gets Attacked By Alien Bastards', please sit back and enjoy your flight. Oh, and we will be serving the fish," Lachlan smirked, closing the comm. and putting the Pelican to full power as the hanger doors flew open. The Pelicans darted out of the ship as it powered towards the Rifter fleet. "Why aren't they firing!?" a pilot asked over the radio. Lachlan knew what he was talking about, the Orbital Defence Grid wasn't firing a single round. "Maybe they're out of range?" another pilot said. Lachlan had a quick look at his scanner; the Rifters were most definitely in range, and if those platforms didn't open up soon, the Rifters would already be on top of them. "Good luck boys, I'm off to Sydeny," a pilot said, breaking from formation. "Sydney is lovely this time of year," Lachlan commented as he left the formation and entered the atmosphere above the United States.

Ioannes pointed and made a 'clicking' sound with his mouth at every UNSC ship that was destroyed. Disgusting Humans. "All cruisers, push through the Human lines; ignore their floating platforms,"

The flashing of alert signals on the Bridge was like a permanent reminder of the battle to Cassandra's ears, as was the sound of combat all around. Hastily, Hellenes was scrambling ships and sending them into battle against the Rifters; it had taken a considerable time to damage one Rifter ship to the point of near destruction, however, and they'd lost two ships to do so. Besides that, Earth's Pride was burning furiously. "Dammit." She muttered, before making the call she'd really rather not have done to the garrison commander on the surface. "Prepare evacuation ships and get everyone on board; they most likely mean to take Earth intact and damage our morale, and I'm not going to risk our people with that. Get them ready, Captain, even if we have to make them disembark later." Cassandra hoped that it would come down to getting them off later, and not fleeing with them.
However, a good leader had to prepare for all possibilities.
"Master Chief?" This next call was to a nearby ship, on which the Master Chief SPARTAN was spending his time. "I'm sure you've seen that this battle's not going so well. We're working to repair the mainframe but, quite frankly, it's not going as quickly as we'd like. I want you and the remaining ODSTs on all ships", the next part was beamed to all ships in the fleet, "to assault their ships by boarding and destroying. Any marines who wish to volunteer may go too. Good luck, Master Chief. We need all the luck we can get in this battle." Matt hadn't responded once throughout Cassandra's entire monologue; he had no need to. He replied with actions, not with words. "Acknowledged, Supreme Commander." Was all he said, as he made his way down to the Heavy Entry Vehicle bay below. He and his team would be waiting for a few minutes for anyone who wanted to come.
Yet he still strapped himself in and made ready.
It was a young, blonde haired woman who entered next, an ODST who hadn't quite had time to put her helmet on fully. "Hey MC." She said, distractedly, as she placed her helmet on and took the vehicle next to Matt. Strapping herself in she, like him, left the pod door open and ready. "Chief," she suddenly confided, "I don't want to die. There's this guy... Hell, I don't even know what I'm doing, here in another war. I don't want it to be like last time." She seemed to almost reach her own resolution. "It won't be like last time. I won't let him or anyone else die, and I damn well won't let Earth fall. This is my home, and the home of all humanity, and there's no way in hell that I'm going to let a bunch of aliens take it over. We didn't let them then, and we won't let them now." Matt didn't respond; he had no real need to.
The woman had consoled herself.

Justin-129 had been going to go to the command deck after arming himself, but then... He paused as a rush of people went past him- ODSTs, several marines, and finally, a SPARTAN ran past! The olive-armored supersoldier wasn't unexpected, however- Justin had been on his way to see this particular SPARTAN on the command deck... The white-armored SPARTAN paused, then growled for Eosphorous to patch him through to Commander Cassandra Hellenes.
Justin spoke into the comm, "Commander- where do I go? I don't have any orders..."
And he waited for her to reply.

Alex would have chuckled about the jokes being made, but the fact that Mitch was sitting three feet away was like a giant leech attatched to one's buttock. The young Mediterranean man loaded his SMG on his belt, and put two rockets into his SOCOM rocket launcher. His pistol he double-checked, and then placed all his weaponry back on. Finally, he pulled out the machete, and began sharpening it- after all, he had the ominous feeling he would need it...

Matchsticks ran towards the Pelican. He was a lone wolf know his entire squad dead or wounded to the point they would never fight again. He pulled out his lighter and sat their flicking the flame on and off. The Spartan Lazer that rested on his back hurt as he pressed against it to sit down. He wished he had a SOCOM Rocket Launcher but this would do just fine.

Russ grabbed a rapid prototype of his new Assault Battle Rifle and loaded it. Setting it to Automatic Rifle, in a few minutes it was ready for combat. (OoC: Mah prototype. ) He jumped into a Heavy Entry Vehicle, and patched through to Matt. "So Matt, when do we enter the battlefield?"

((SPARTAN))
Mitch secured his MA5C Assault and SPARTAN Laser in their respective sections of his Human Entry Vehicle. His M6G Magnums were in place under either side of his arms. His upgraded gun metal green Mk. IV MJOLNIR armour, although scarred, was at 105% and ready for action. "Just another day at the office." Alicia sighed. "Don't worry, we'll be in and out in time for dinner." Mitch replied, tappng his helmet twice. He stapped himself imside his HEV and his hatch closed shortly after. "Nothing to it but to do it."

Justin, having recieved his orders, dashed to the H.E.V.s. He had had to run quite a bit, having gotten his orders rather last-minute. In typical fashion. The white-armored SPARTAN ran through the bay, seeing Mitch-105 climbing into his pod, and Matt-810 and the ODSTs had already gotten into theirs. Justin-139 clambered into his pod, and buckled himself in hurriedly.
"Are you ready, Justin?"
The pearly-armored SPARTAN replied to his sophisticated A.I., Eosphorous, "Yeah, of course. When am I not, Eo?"
The avatar of the A.I. appeared on a holopanel built into the H.E.V. Eosphorous raised one eyebrow. "A better question, Master SPARTAN, would be when are you ready?"
Justin paused, then responded. "Let's stay optimistic, Eo- not more of your prophetic negativity. You're jinxing the mission!"
Eo replied, "You are aware that the likelihood of the 'jinxing' phenomenon is so small as to be infinitesimal, you know. In fact, the-"
"Not now!" Justin cut the A.I, off. Now, the analytical, calculating A.I. would sulk.
This was going like every mission.

Luke looked over Matt and the ODST beside him as he entered the room with heavy steps; the armor he had been raised from birth within felt exceedingly heavy tonight. The room around them was bathed in the dancing colors of the planet below. The origin of his species; Earth. And today its existence was threatened. Luke had been out of the action for some time now, he had attained severe wounds in the battle of Doisac; but all had healed, and the Rifters would forever from this day fear his call sign, to the extent SPARTAN-117 had been feared by the Covenant. As the ODST continued ranting to Matt about her fears, Luke moved over to the rack of weapons. For Luke, choosing weapons before a battle was as equally exhilarating as that a fat child in a candy store would experience. With a goofy smile under his helmet at his thought as it hammered across mind, he reached up to the wall and pulled a Battle Rifle off the rifle stands; a second glance was not necessary. He quickly moved he rifle behind his back, clicking it firmly into the magnetic clamp positioned in the center of his back armor plating. His second weapon of choice was the final twelve round shotgun resting on the bottom half of the weapon rack, he pulled it up and checked the flashlight attached to the end was in working condition. A smile grew across his lips once again as he held the shotgun and began to move over beside Matt, who had just finished his no doubt motivational conversation with the ODST. Luke moved his left hand to Matt's shoulder and patted it twice. "Excited about crashing their party, mate?" **** Vince was nervous, there was no doubt in his mind about that. There was, however, doubt he would live to see the sun rise on Earth again. The same thought kept racing across his mind; there was no better honor then to die trying to give others a chance, yet it was still hard to grasp. Death was such a simple thing, it was known well among the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, when one of their own falls in battle they didn't mourn, they killed the son of a bitch that shot their comrade down. Vince could only hope for such brotherhood among the strangers around him. He was on board a Pelican with countless new faces, all of whom Vince would fight side by side to the death with in order to preserve their sacred home ground. Vince sat silently, the turbulence in the Pelican making it impossible to hear the others around him speaking; his mind simply attempted to calm his nerves, flashing pictures of Sonya across his mind, giving him both something to die for and live for. He couldn't put Sonya through what she had witnessed once before. Death was unacceptable.

"is everything ok you look a little worried" asked Matchsticks to Vince. "finally I am heading home" said Matchsticks to himself as he thought of his childhood in New York City. "so where are the rest of you guys from if you don't mind sharing" said Matchsticks as he put the lid back on his lighter and put it in his armor pocket. He chucked to ensure his little flamethrower was secured in the area of space he was allowed to stow his gear and then returned to his seat awaiting reply to his question.

Alex looked up at Matchsticks. The usually passionate and fiery ODST replied in a subdued voice, "Draco III. Y'know, the one that the Covenant rounded up all the civilians on, and slaughtered them while our ships were attacking? My family was methodically killed by a group of Brutes, as the Vid Drones indicate." The Mediterranean man looked around the Pelican at the others.

Justin spoke into his comm to the other SPARTANS and ODSTs, "When do we rock and roll, ladies?" The white-armored SPARTAN checked his HEV controls...

Mitch smirked. "Sorry to hear that, man. If it's any consolation, I have no clue where my fiancée is or if she'a even alive. Oh, and my homeworld was just abondoned." he sighed. "Hey! Pilot! How much longer?" he yelled to the pilot as he pounded on the cockpit door twice and then returning to his layed back position.
((SPARTAN-IV))
Mitch double checked his controls. Green across the border. He checked and made sure his weapons were in place. "Weapons... check. Systems... check." he looked down at his right calf, "Knife... check. Chief, one-zero-five prepped for combat insertion, Sir!"

"Elysium City on Eridanus II," Fox answered, "The planet was glassed though," Fox looked down, "My wife and son were killed during the glassing. I just wish I was there to protect them." He sighed. "Covenant bastards."

Sighing quietly, Vince told them, "Born on Earth, Austraila actually. I got a girl back at Sydney... " trailing off Vince went silent for a moment. " I hope to hell that Sydney is taken! I just wish i was going there.."
Glancing around, Vince commented,"Damn this is taking long than expected!" Checking his weapons again he made sure they were ready to use as soon as they landed. "So Mitch, what are we expecting to run into at New York"
