Personality:
Strong willed and a little impulsive, Zarra tends to get into trouble often.
She is proud, but not in an arrogant way; she just tends to think the way she wants to do things is better, and isn’t very in tune with her own physical limitations. She does not like being kept on the sidelines.
She is not impressed by authority and isn’t afraid to dispute or simply disobey any orders she disagrees with. She also does not allow herself to be picked on and will fight if provoked.
Though she doesn’t particularly like the idea of dying, Zarra isn’t afraid to give her life for an ally or an important mission. This and poor risk assessment has led many close calls, but has not discouraged her. Zarra is brave, strong, and persistent. She doesn’t let anything get in the way of what she believes is important.
Despite the nature of her occupation Zarra manages to still seem naive at times, especially in social situations. Off the battle field she is shy and quiet. When left alone she often becomes lost in thought, and is sometimes a little bit oblivious to her surroundings.
Strengths: Brave, tenacious, strong willed, dutiful (even if she doesn’t do things in the particular way she is asked to do them). She also has good eyesight and a good aim.
Weaknesses: Tends to overestimate herself, takes on too many responsibilities (sometimes needlessly putting herself at risk,) has a bad habit of continuing to fight when severely wounded. She is also not quite as strong as her male colleagues.
Biography:
Zarra was born on Sangheilos, the only daughter of Arkan 'Yairumee, a sangheili warrior, and his mate Klyn Aureum. Zarra was mostly raised by her mother but felt closer to her father, despite his long absences as a soldier.
Arkan was killed in a small skirmish with a group of humans during the first ten years of the war. The news of his death was hard on both Zarra and Klyn. Grief-stricken, Zarra ran away from home and signed up to begin training as a medic at the age of thirteen, intending to follow in Arkan's footsteps, as well as hunt down the humans responsible for her father's death.
She began work as a medic at sixteen aboard a CCS-class Battlecruiser named The Righteous Servant. Three years later she became a field medic, a rank she would hold for the next twelve years.
As a field medic, she was still not allowed to fight but was now able to observe warriors in battle. Still determined to become a warrior herself, she took this as an opportunity to study combat techniques, and, over the years, she became a very skilled fighter.
Zarra was stationed onboard the Truth and Reconciliation around the time of the Battle of Reach and the following battle of Installation 04. She present on the battle field during both conflicts and was forced to use her unconventionally acquired skills on several occasions.
These skills proved to be lifesaving aboard the Flood-ravaged wreck of the Truth and Reconciliation, soon before the ship's demise. Zarra was able to help rally some of her traumatized allies and lead them to safety. It was also here that she met Special Operations Commander Anau Nadum, who she took immediate interest in, though she was unaware to where that interest would eventually lead.
After her heroic actions in the Battle of Installation 04 she was offered a place in Special Operations. She quickly reached the rank of Spec-Ops Major, and took part in several major battles afterward, usually under command of her newfound friend.
She became very close to the Commander and the two gradually fell in love. Soon after the Human-Covenant War, Zarra retired from the military with, then married, Anau, starting a new life on Sangheilos.
Family:
Spouse: Anau 'Nadum

Role Playing Sample:
"And then the Demon came up the hill, right at us. He shot the other..." Zarra was telling the rest of the medics her story when an Ultra entered the room.
"Zarra 'Yairumee?" he asked.
The other girls started wispering amongst themselves. Zarra stood, her head bowed submissively. She was sure she was in trouble again. "Yes sir?" she said meekly.
"Come with me," he said.
She followed. The wispers increased in volume to curious talk when they left the room.
She walked beside the Ultra with her head still bowed. Maybe it was because she had used a sword, maybe that was it. What would be the punishment for that? She could always say that the commander had let her use it, but he had enough problems; she couldn't get him in trouble. How would anyone know about that. Maybe it was about stealing that armor.
The Ultra led Zarra down a hall where they met a Zealot.
"Thank you, I'll take it from here," said the Zealot.
The Ultra left. The Zealot started walking and motioned for Zarra to follow. "I hear you took part in some of the fighting on the ring," said the Zealot, "Medics are not supposed to fight."
"Uh... yes sir," said Zarra, "but you must understand, I had to fight this time. I would have been killed if I hadn't."
"Oh? Is that so?" said the Zealot.
"Yes sir, you can ask the other survivors."
"I already have spoken with them," said the Zealot. He led her into a building. It was the armory. Zarra looked around confused.
The Zealot picked up the helmet of a Spec-Ops Minor and handed it to her. "Welcome to the Special Operations division."
Zarra stood there amazed.
"We aren't exactly sure if it is legal, but there are a few female warriors. Don't draw too much attention to yourself and you should be fine."
Zarra tried the helmet on and looked in a mirror.
"Your father was in Spec-Ops," said the Zealot.
"I know," said Zarra.
"He was a good friend," the Zealot sighed. "Report for training here," he handed her a note, "From what I've heard, you shouldn't need much."
