((OOC: This thread is for UNSC High Command alone. You will get a big thread very soon after this.))
Emperor Henno Xiang of the Rifters smiled, as he contemplated his plan. Since their visit to the station, he'd had the Head AI Unit, Setara, sabotaged. Although they couldn't seed a rampancy cause inside her without it being noticeable on scans, what they had done was blocked her access to the Mainframe. And the Mainframe allowed access to all of the orbital battle stations the humans and the United Nations Space Command possessed. Without access to the Mainframe, they couldn't be turned on. He was impatient; this had been planned for months. No - not months. This had been planned for years. The United Nations Space Command trusted them. The Rifters had ships all about United Nations Space Command worlds. None of those worlds, however, were the target today. None of those worlds were what the Rifters sought. The Rifter flagship soared away from the meeting.
The meeting they'd just had with the United Nations Space Command.
Of course, they didn't know yet. They wouldn't know until too late. Henno Xiang bent over the computer control board before him, as a scientist stepped over. "My Lord, we're ready. The Artificial Intelligence Unit's access to the Mainframe will be blocked."
Henno nodded. His fingers trembled, and he held himself, calmed himself for a moment. "Do it."
The scientist nodded, and began tapping a few keys experimentally, before nodding. "It's ready, My Lord. Ready at your command."
Henno sighed, with what was almost pleasure. The button before him would do as he'd planned for some time. He almost couldn't bring himself to press it.
"Gentlemen," he said, "today is a great day for the Rifters. For we shall become the dominant power in this galaxy once again!" As Henno pressed the button, the Rifters roared in support.
In the chambers of the United Nations Space Command, Cassandra Hellenes watched as the rays of the dimming sun splashed over the table before them. The meeting with the Rifter Emperor had gone well, the meeting where much had been discussed and planned. For some time, the Covenant Remnant would not be a threat. That was good. The bombing of Doisac would require them to stay within their own boundaries and rebuild, as Supreme Commander Hellenes had intended. Now, the United Nations Space Command could finally get back round to repairing worlds ravaged by the Human-Covenant war, and fixing the hurt done by such a thing. In conjunction with the Elites, they'd be working on such a project. Sangheilios too would become an important world, as well as the other important Sangheili planets. Worlds that once symbolised enmity would now symbolise friendship.
Or so they thought.
From across the table, Setara stood, on the Artificial Intelligence pedestal, seemingly watching the sunset itself. Hellenes sighed. "It's beautiful, isn't it..." She murmured. She waited; there was no response. "Setara?" She asked, in confusion. Still nothing. Setara hadn't moved. Hellenes crossed over, quickly, spinning round and examining the AI. Suddenly, Setara cried aloud and fell to the floor of the pedestal, clutching at her head. "What the hell is going on?" Cassandra screamed. "Vlad!" She called, over at the other Supreme Commander. "Setara's being blocked out of the Mainframe." This was catastrophic news. "There's going to be an attack." Talk about stating the obvious. Rising panic would soon be growing, and they needed access to the Mainframe. If the Head AI couldn't access it, no AI could. "Shit!" Hellenes swore. "We're going to have to go direct. The Mainframe's on Earth. We're going to have to get there fast."
Hellenes grabbed Setara from the pedestal, and looked at Vlad.
"Now!"
