Okay I have to suggest this. Be very nice if people give a Rank to their characters in Halo RP. I mean some have already have done that and if need be can be approved but others haven't...even those that are Admins or elite players. At least on some characters aren't Ranked.
You don't have to sign who is what rank just that a person is allowed to pick as long as it is within reason. If it is not then you can suggest or really order to change it to this rank to make it fair.
Spartans don't have to follow this rule as they are normally already Pre-ranked and also they normally follow orders of others that at times that under rank them. Just how they are. Yet they can give orders if the orders seem a bit suicidal that were given by the others.
Right? Tell if you agree because I looked over characters of people I've just RPed with and had a hard time placing them with mine. So why I bring this up. Just so I make myself clear to repeat myself.
So I say again. Do you agree?

I agree. I don't think the official template gives enough information. I use a template from another site. So far I think the only rule is meeting a certain word count, and I don't think it's even enforced that well. (In most cases I don't feel like thoroughly reading a really long biography, I usually don't even have time to, so I'm definately not going to spend time checking how many words are in it.) We need a reform. Name, age, species, affiliation, and rank should be the minimum. A biograpy and/or a personality description, should be strongly encouraged, (and necessary for established characters after a certain point of time.) That way we'll get the information we need, and people won't feel like they are doing homework and skip making a profile. Some people want to try out a character for a while before they try to come up with a long history of the character. I know Zarra's biography was maybe three sentences long when I started, and some of those characters with a long interesting biography from the start are never used. Mostly, I just hate word counts. Quality > quantity. As long as all the necessary information gets across, there shouldn't be any problems with a profile. Thank you for listening. Really I just felt like ranting about something, but hopefully I made some valid points.

You want to know who your characters are talking to, at least, don't you?

Well personally I do put thought into my characters and I normally hate Bios as I sometimes mess up on them and they make no sense. Yet this one I have is rather nice and I am happy with it. Put thought with it and only had to fight Word as it kept crashing and deleting my data...so yeah. Yet still just put in Rank into the already what is in and all is fine.

You want to know who your characters are talking to, at least, don't you? Correct. Like, I know I've gone a little bio crazy because of f**king halofanon. But I'm just the type who loves a good read.

We were talking about what the minimum requirements should be, not about making a maximum requirement or something. I have a short fan fiction on one of my character's profiles for goodness sake. xD I meant we should do away with the word count thing so people who don't want to make a long profile won't have to.

The template already includes the minimum thing's you've said, Indy. And I'm unsure as to the proposal. If you want a "rank" field added to the profile template, I don't have a problem with that.

Name, age, species, affiliation, and rank should be the minimum. A biograpy and/or a personality description, should be strongly encouraged, (and necessary for established characters after a certain point of time.) Sorry for the double post, but... From the character template: (http://www.theprojectrp.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=characterprofiles&action=display&thread=10) "Name: Character's name. Age: Character's age. Gender: Gender. Affiliation/Race: Affiliation or race. Weaponry: Weapons owned by the character. Biography: A biographical section. Note: Character profiles may be written in a first person style. In addition, they must have a minimum of 50 words. In addition, this template is merely a recommendation; as long as a profile includes basic information, and is 50 words minimum, it's fine. " All that stuff is the minimum.

You didn't catch my rant about the 50 word minimum? xD Really, I've just had a crazy week and I was bored. I needed something to go on about for a couple paragraphs.

It says MINIMUM meaning you can't have less than 50 words. Now if it said Maximum then we would have a problem as no character would really have a Profile.

I agree...well at least with adding rank to the Charcter Templete other part I honestly don't give a hoot.

No, no, that's not what I mean. What I'm trying to say is that it should be okay to play with a character that isn't finished, as long as you have the basic name, age, rank, ect. down. I do most of my character development in the RP and I usually don't figure out a good, well thought out, back story for months. If I don't start out with a biography, I might not be able to meet the 50 word requirement. I don't want to have to make up a biography on the spot, if I'll probably change it completely in a couple months. (And I'd be tempted to stick with the crummy biography I had at first, just to avoid confusing people.)
In short, I don't develop my characters the same way Coconut does and that makes meeting the requirements of the template very frustrating.

That's true. But, to be honest, no character's ever finished. I always update my characters as the RP develops. Is this a proposal, then, to scrap/lower the 50 word minimum?

Just make it more of a recommendation than a requirement.
