"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to. I'm sorry." she replied, limping to a corner. "Cassy, what the hell was that?" Alicia asked. Cassy didn't reply, she just went to work on her wounds and pulled the spikes out. "Alicia. Shut up and find a computer." she said while her biofoam dispencers sealed the wound. She checked her Battle Rifle and made sure it was loaded. "Found one," she replied. "Good. put a nav point on it." Cassy answered. Alicia put the nav point on the computer and she struggled back up, sped past Chandler and stopped at the holo control. "Yank me." Cassy did so. She took out Alicia's data chip and held it close to the controls. Alicia's hologram phased into the holo controls and went to work. "Chief! Alicia's in the system! It should take her a minute to-" before she could finish her sentence, a Brute punched her in the face and knocked her to the ground. The Brute grunted with satisfaction and grabbed Cassy's arm. Cassy grabbed Alicia's data chip as she was lifted by her arm. She kicked the Brute in the stomach and punched it repeatedly with her free right arm. The Brute wouldn't let go and smacked Cassy across the face.
This wasen't good. She was losing consiousness. She remembered suddenly, about her wrist blade modification. "Hey! Look me in the face before you kill me you ugly bastard!" she roared. The Brute complied and before it knew what happened, Cassy's wristblade slid out from her gauntlet and went into the Brute's forehead. There was a wimper, then a crack, then silence. The Brute released it's grip and fell forewards. She fell to her knees, and layed there.
Mitch studdied the holographic display in front of him. It was a series of diagrams of a mechanical structure and a map. wierd, he knew, but it was important. He knew that much. He heard an faint cry and he spun around. There was nothing there, but then a floating creature emerged from the shadows. It was pink and had six eyes and tentacles. It floated farely high above the floor and it descended to Mitch's eye level. "Uhh, hello?" The creature didn't respond verbally, it only spun around him slowely and then stopped in front of him and started to move it's tentacles. sign language. Mitch thought. "Me. Mitch. You... help?" he said slowely, assuming it'd understand. It did, and it gave a cry of joy as it's tentacles felt Mitch's armour. "H-hey! What are you doing?" Mitch said, lifting his arms. The creature gave another joyful cry and went to work on Mitch's armour. "Are you fixing my armour?" Mitch asked. Yet another joyful cry came from the creature and it stopped. "What did you do...?" Mitch's HUD suddenly reappeared and all of his armour's functions were fully repaired, mostly. "Thank you." Mitch said as he held out a hand. The creature responded by grabbing Mitch's hand and lifting him into the air and ascending upwards from where he fell from. "This is amazing..."

"I am going to beat her down," Chandler growled to himself, holding the head of a Brute in his hands. He tossed it aside and wiped the blade from his Brute Shot clean. He had used the last of his Brute Shot grenades, he was forced to use other means. Normally he wouldn't have resorted to such tactics, but that Brute gave him a dirty look.

"Cassy!" Matt roared, as he dodged a shell from the Brute Captain before him. He had to finish this with the Captain, and fast. Cassy was lying there, unprotected, for all he knew already dead. He had to get over to her to make sure and, if she wasn't, protect her. He swore as a shell exploded just above his shoulder, firing at the Brute as he circled his position. The Captain dodged as Matt yelped as he hurled his Brute shot at him. He'd got bored of trying to fire at him. Matt arched his back and caught the Brute shot, hurling it away in one fluid motion. No sooner had he done this, however, than he leapt backwards as the Captain brought down his gravity hammer. There was a vibrating crash, and Matt's leap was shook by the vibrations. He fell to the floor, with a crash, the hammer coming down from above like a descending fist of Brute justice. Matt rolled to the side, and fired with his rifle. The Brute, hit in his abdomen, doubled over.
One gunshot later and it was all over.
The room had far less Brutes than before and, surprisingly, wasn't that damaged. Relatively intact, basic debris was scattered around. The lift, of course, was permanently out of action, but that was a minor detail. They wouldn't be heading down until they headed up. Matt leapt through the air, one booted foot slamming into the face of another Brute as he fired on another, before turning his gun on the first, stunned Brute. Cassy lay on the floor, between Matt and a pair of Brutes. One turned away from him, fighting with another SPARTAN, whilst one bellowed, spittle flying from his mouth. Matt didn't even wait. He fired, the bullet flying into the Brute's mouth as his roar turned into a choke and then a gargle. Blood ran from his mouth as Matt stepped over and kicked him in the chest. He fell over, landing with a crash as he died, on the floor. Cassy was now ready to be taken out of here.
But, by doing so, he wouldn't be able to fire.
Gritting his teeth, Matt clipped his weapons to his hip and bent down. It had to be done, he knew. He couldn't leave Cassy to die. SPARTANs never die. He thought, grimly, as he picked her up in his arms. She wasn't all that heavy, but that could be Matt's strength or her lightness. He wasn't sure. Ducking his head, he sprinted across the floor as fast as he could in a zigzag pattern, to avoid the bullets. The same crate the Brute chieftain had hidden behind still remained, and so Matt lay Cassy behind it. When he turned back to the room, the Brutes were dead. "They're dead." Matt sighed, tired from the combat. "Quick respite period, then we move. We don't want to find more. Good news is they can't get troops up from below." He jabbed a finger in the direction of the lift. "Cassy, are you alright?"
He didn't know if her had the energy for CPR.

"She's alright, Chief." A voice said through Cassy's helmet speakers. Alicia 'sighed' as she read over the data she'd taken from the computer. "The tower is offline and-..." She was suprised at what she just picked up. "Chief, you aren't going to believe me but... Mitch. He's alive and ascending to the ground floor! I don't believe it! This is amazing! His life signatures are at normal."

"What, that's it?" Chandler asked, over hearing the AI. "No grand explosion?" he added. He took the Spike Rifle he had acquired from the chest of a Brute Minor and fired one round up into it's jaw. Chandler then being sprayed by the Brutes blood. "Lovely," he commented, wiping it from his visor.

Russell sighed with relief as he walked up to the Brute. Still twitching from its death earlier, he made no noise as he monotonously picked up the Brute's Spiker and jammed it into its head. The twitching stopped.
He then cocked his head. "Mitch is alive? Wow! I wonder what could have repaired him or hover him up..."
He then walked up to Cassy's limp body and crouched in front of it so that Alicia could see him. "So, if the tower's offline, that means we're done here, right?"

"Unless we have anything else in mind, no." replied Alicia, joyfully. "Wait, I could have sworn i scanned a Prophet in the computer systems. Shouldn't you guys look into that? Maybe we can capture him for interogation. Possibly a peace treaty."
Mitch and the Engineer made it up to the surrface. The Engineer dropped Mitch gently and hovered beside him. He looked up the elevator shaft and activated his com. "This is SPARTAN one-zero-five! I am sending this to any UNSC personnel! Can anyone hear me? Please respond!" he paused for a moment and then remembered something from his SPARTAN child days. "Oly-Oly-Oxen-Free."

Russell waited. Did he just hear?
He played back the message. "Oly Oly Oxen Free!" Yep, he heard it.
He turned. "Hey guys, Mitch is down at the elevator shaft. Dunno how he's gonna get up there though." He turned to Alicia. "Well, thanks for the information, but even though the war's ended, after what those Prophets did I'd like to kill him."
He then turned to Matt. "The way I see it we have two options viable and one not: extract, charge the Prophet's room and capture/kill the Prophet, or wait for help to get here before attempting to do option two."

"Yeah." Matt said, in response to Russell. He'd straightened up from the corpse of a Brute. In his hand were clenched orders and recent messages from above, apparently from a Prophet. "We've got good reason to believe that the Covenant are under the control of another of those damn Prophets..." He sighed. "New mission objective, SPARTANs. Primarily we're here to disable the tower and knock out part of the shield. Now we also want to kill that Prophet." Matt straightened his gun, kicking the head of a Brute away as he contemplated the best way to go about this. "There won't be an elevator to that high up. Let's see if we can find some schematics..." Matt crossed over the room to what looked vaguely like a computer terminal. Looking down on it and experimentally pressing a few buttons, he frowned. He had no idea how to work with or on such a terminal.
Luckily, he knew someone who did.
"Right here, Chief." Setara appeared in her glowing blue form on the pedestal at the side of the terminal machine. "Let's break this thing open." A look of concentration replaced the easy smile on Setara's face as she browsed through reams of information, a sound like water tinkling replacing the former hum of the terminal. "Here we go." She said, satisfied, her finger moving from somewhere inside the terminal up to in front of her face. A schematic formed there, and Matt hit the screen for it to form there. Bending down to examine it, he frowned, tracing digital lines with his fingers. "Above us is impregnable. We can't just go straight up." He said, almost to himself. "Here." He said, triumphantly, jabbing another area. "This part's open to the sky, so we'll have to watch for Banshee or Phantom fire. It's rocky, so we won't be able to move fast, and we could trip. That's the bad news." Matt smiled, ironically to himself.
"Good news is it's only two hundred metres long."
Matt looked up to the SPARTANs around. "From there, we cross to a bunch of gravity lifts. They'll only support one at a time, and there's easy risk of ambush. I want us all to be careful at that point. That, however, should take us up to the top floor where we'll have the ability to disable the tower, and where the Prophet will undoubtedly be." He nodded to the rest of them. "Once we've crossed the open ground, we'll have to split up into pairs. Russell, Chandler in one. Mitch and I on the other." Raising his weapon, he hit the button to open the doors. On the other side of the room, a pair of battered blast doors moved apart, sunlight streaming into the room. "Here we go, SPARTANs. I want no deaths or injuries. When we're exposed like that, if you go down crippled then it'll be hard as hell for us to rescue you. That doesn't mean leave the injured behind, it means be careful."
"We all good?"

Russell said, "Right-o then." as he went around the room collecting Spiker ammo. He turned to Chandler. "Crossing a roof with bad terrain, getting fired on by Banshees and Phantoms, before going on Gravity Lifts which can only hold one at a time, where we can easily be ambushed? Sounds like we're going on a Taco Bell run through a field of artillery fire."

Mitch shook his head when he heard no response. He turned to the Engineer and made a hand gesture for it to follow him. "He noticed one of his handguns on the ground beside the hole where he had fell. He picked it up and examined it. M6C/SOCOM, full magazine, damaged. "Crap... hey, can you fix this?" Mitch asked the Engineer. "The Engineer gave a cheerful cry and gently took the handgun, pulled it apart, and fixed it like it was lego. Mitch took it back and secured the weapon to his left torso. "Can you get this lift to go DOWN?" he asked, and once again, the Engineer did so. The lift stopped with a gently 'thud', and Mitch and his floating mechanic followed him on the lift.
* * * * * * * * *
As soon as the lift came to a stop at the top, Mitch almost immieadiatly noticed Cassy and ran for her. "Cassy! Cassy are you ok?" "She's fine, Mitch, only unconsious. I suggest we get her out of here." Alicia replied. Mitch nodded to himself and yanked Alicia out of Cassy's helmet. "So, anything happen while I was gone?" he asked. "Oh you know, same old, same old. Now, Chief has a plan..."
While Alicia debriefed him, Mitch brought Cassy down the lift and radioed for a marine fireteam to evac Cassy. As soon as that was done, he took a Sniper Rifle and two supressed SMGs from the fireteam and joined Matt and the others. "Prepped and ready for combat, sir. Good to see you guys again."

Chandler let out a laugh and shoved Russel. "How could you know exactly what to say to get me excited?" he laughed, then moving away from him. "Good to have you back, hope you're nothing like your sister," he chuckled insultingly while walking past him. He continued walking and began collecting ammunition.

"Sister?!" That annoyed Mitch alot. "She isn't my sister, jackass! She's my Fia-" Mitch stalled, "She's just a really close friend," he turned away from Chandler, and turned to Matt. "Sir, I found something down there. A diagram of some object that looks like the Ark and a diagram of what looked like a space station."
The Engineer went about it's business with the console and examined it instead of repairing it.

Russell pointed towards the purple blob in the center of the room. "I think he's an Engy, he can fix our armor. I think we should get our armor and weapons repaired before we do anything else." He began walking towards the Engineer.

"Stay away from that thing," Chandler grunted, shoving more Brute Shot rounds into the weapon. "That thing is probably wired or worse, waiting for the perfect moment to stab us in the back," he continued, standing and walking towards it. "I say we kill it now, spare us the embarrassment of being tricked by a bug." he said.
