Pyrus arrived to Zarra's position just in time to see her rise again. She was unarmed. "Sniper, take my weapon." he said, handing the Carbine to her. "I'll just use this," he said, picking up a fallen plasma turret cannon. "We must go, quickly! The Arbiter's forces have already breached the inner corridors. Stay close to eachother."

Zaku limped to the door, hulking over the two Guard Grunts clad in blue armor. His eight-foot-eight stature was very imposing as he activated the plasma sword. One of the grunts whimpered.
"Kill the brutes," he growled, and the one of the Grunts typed a three-character password, opening the main door. A startled brute grunted, and stood up to receive several plasma shots to the body and head. "Yeah, kill the brutes!" the Grunts cheered, and ran inside, inciting other Unngoy.
Zaku growled as he passed the dead Brute, and noisily spat on it as he passed. The gold-armored zealot walked forward, and spoke into the comm on his helmet. "Yell, Ranu... Bring your squads in. Fleet Master 'Tenkkam wants this tower down as soon as possible."

Anau followed closely behind Zarra as she ran across the field. He didn't know why he was in the field, or why he was following her. A beam of plasma suddenly shot and struck Zarra in the chest, passing through her with ease. "Zarra!" Anau cried. He ran faster and caught her as she fell backwards. Unable to support her, he fell to the ground, holding her. Blood poured from her body, staining Anau's hands. "Zarra!"
"What did it say?" a Brute asked. "It's awake!" a second, angered and surprised Brute yelled. Anau openned his eyes and saw a Brute pinning him to the ground with one hand, and his other clenched and covered in his blood. "Get me my weapon!" it barked. He turned his head, feeling immense pain, and picked up a shard from his now destroyed helmet. He looked back to the Brute and shoved the shard into the side of it's neck. The Brute staggered away in pain and Anau immediatly stood back up. The second Brute returned with Anau's activated sword. He leaped to the side as the Brute charged at him, and then again when the Brute tried again. He continued to dodge the beast until finally he could dive for a Spike Rifle. He turned and unleashed it's entire clip into the Brutes chest, spike after spike tearing through it's flesh. Anau ditched the rifle and took his sword from the Brutes dead hands. "This is mine," he muttered. He glanced over at the first Brute, who was now laying on the ground, squirming and gasping for air. He turned back and jogged towards the towers entrance.

"You have my thanks," Zarra said with a polite nod, and hurried toward the fighting near the door. A good number of the Elites had gotten inside the building, but the Ghosts had forced some on the outside to scatter. It was then that the scattered elites had been engaged by a handful of Brutes that had been hiding in the alleys. Zarra wasn't sure if she should move back to her position, in the lead with Anau and the Arbiter, or help the elites on the outside take care of the small ambush. The Brutes on the outside were few and Elites seemed to be driving them back without much trouble. She decided quickly and headed toward the entrance.

Anau stopped briefly before the entrance to the tower. He spat out a small amount of blood he could feel gathering in his throat and rubbed his jaw. Something causes him to lower his guard but he couldn't remember what. He placed the sword on his thigh and took up the Carbine of a Brute that died defending the entrance to the tower.

(OoC: Might as well catch up with you. ) Zarra caught sight of Anau and hurried over. "Thank the gods, I found you," she said, glancing around to see if there were any enemies near enough to be trouble. None were close, but she tried to talk quickly, "I'm sorry I went off after that Ghost like that, but the Arbiter..." She faltered as she turned to look at him. "You're hurt!" she said with a gasp, "Are you alright? What happened?"

Now he remembered why he let his guard down. "I'm fine, these two Brutes..." Anau replied, trailing off. "I'm fine," he repeated with a smile. "And don't apologise for what you did, any one of us would have done the same. But to me, an Arbiter can be replaced, you can't be," he said, looking at her. "Let's get inside and be done with this."

Zarra looked at Anau sideways for a moment and put her hand on his face. Looking concerned. "Some of those cuts will need stitches," she said with a frown, "and you look like a mess." She smiled slightly. "I can't really examine you here though. If you're sure you're alright, let's go, but if you're not... I could never replace you either." She hugged him briefly, then turned toward the entrance of the tower.

Zaku jumped through the door and rolled, pointing his plasma rifles in various direcitons as he checked for Brutes. His two Majors led their squads into the Tower, and through a door into a large antechamber. It had two semi-walls, and a large object in the center, and a door on the other side. One Major said, "Ship Master, this is merely an Antechamber. If this tower resembles any of the Forerunner shield towers, then there will be a series of hallways, chambers, and stairs, until we reach the main lift. From there we should reach a large, windowed chamber with the controls."
Zaku nodded, and growled back, "Yes. I participated in the Battle of the Ark, and I helped the Arbiter deactivate a Shield Tower. We should make our way through this chamber, and stop at the far side for the Arbiter and his other men."
The two squads and the Zealot moved foward, one squad to each side going around the large, open space. One Minor growled, "It is quiet... too quiet."
As if in response to his statement, a beam rifle's plasma shot bounced off a Major's armor, overloading his shields. The two groups immediately leapt behind various crates and cover as the three Jackal Marksmen fired repeatedly at the group. One Minor's lucky carbine shot sent a Jackal falling from the ceiling sniper platform to the ground with hot plasma on his head, but for the moment, the Elites and the two Grunts were still pinned down...

Pyrus bolted inside and fired his plasma cannon, taking down four Grunts and a Jackal. "Deactivate the Shield! The Quicker the better!" he yelled over the sound of plasma fire.

((OoC: I just wanted to mention that this thread should continue pretty much as normal, even though our leader is having trouble with his computer. I guess I'll kind of be in charge here until our leader gets back, (I've led a thread with nothing but a relatively low ranking character before, and it isn't too hard, just expect alot of OoC posts.) I do not, however, think we should deactivate the tower or fight Coconut's Chieftan with out the Arbiter. So we need something that will keep us on the lower floor of the building for a long time but is still interesting. If you guys have any ideas I'm going to start an OoC thread on this topic in a minute, so you can post them there.))

Katar walked into the tower out of breath and covered in brute and grunt blood and out of breath. His armor had dents and a few holes from sniper shots and his cape was also in bad shape. Katar had made it to the tower alive but his minor squad had been killed. "I am here" said Katar as he fell to one knee. "I am alright let me catch my breath" said Katar as he closed his eyes. (Ooc Seeing as you had trouble I figured a Councilor would have more trouble thrown at him..escpecially if he is only with a squad of Minor Elites)

"What happened to you?" said Zarra, looking back as Katar entered. She shook her head, "Nevermind, this isn't the best time for talk. But I am glad to have your help Councilor."
Zarra turned back toward the fighting inside the tower. Most of the Elites were storming the main corridor, heading toward the lift. She started that way, but she noticed a Jackal hiding in the shadows of a smaller passageway to the side. Zarra charged at the Jackal with a roar as it took aim at another Elite. The startled Jackal missed, hitting the wall, before it was clubbed over the head. Zarra took some extra ammunition from the Jackal's carbine, then headed down the way it had come, to see if there were any more waiting to replace the first.

"thank you Major for your concern but I told you I merely had to catch my breath" said Katar as he rose to his feet. He opened fire on a secound jackle after seeing the glint. "you were to slow" said Katar as he went to search the dead body for gernades. He checked the ammo count of its beam rifle but tossed it away. "that rifle is at 70% if anybody else wants it" said Katar.

On the right passage, the sole remaining Jackal in the rafters was hissing in fury, firing its beam rifle. Until it fizzled. Its battery was dead The Jackal grunted in surprise. Zaku, hidden behind a crate, muttered "I hate standoffs."
He accompanied this remark with a carbine temporarily taken from a Minor, and the Jackal fell from the platform and onto the ground. "Clear!" he bellowed, and his Elites and newfound Grunt allies swarmed down the side corridor. They ran to the door, and found it sealed shut. Through the near-unbreakable, transparent material on the window, he saw a Brute Minor running through a corridor system, and growled. They weren't making his day any easier.
The hulking Zealot turned to face Zarra, Anau, and Katar, who were all nearby. "Councilor, the door is sealed. Judging by the Brute's tactics, they are destroying systems as they go. I do not expect the lift platform to work, when we get to it, and I doubt any doors will be openable. We will have to blast out way through all, and most likely have to reactivate the elevator."
((OOC/ I plan to introduce my other character in my next post.))
