I went off to work (in the garage I work part time whilst at uni in) as usual. And, today, my boss comes to me and gives me a bonus, and I was like "Shiiiit epic win." Anyway. So the figure he showed me on the paper was less than what he actually paid me - he'd paid me too much.
So I go to him and I say "Oi, this is too much mate." He looks at it and was like "Yeah, it is. Thanks for being honest - keep it anyway." I was like "Doubly epic win!" In any case.
If I had have kept my mouth shut, I wouldn't have felt honest, like I was doing wrong. That, to me, feels like stealing. This, however, isn't the way with all people, so the question is: If that situation happened to you, would you take it and keep your mouth shut and, if so, is that stealing or not?
My verdict is, to me, I would do as I did here - tell him as I feel it would be stealing.

And yeah, if you had taken it and you worked for me I would have classed it as stealing. But I doubt your employer would have found out in the long run.

Yeah, ditto. And even if he had found out, he's a nice guy and probably would have let it slide. He'd just have been dissapointed, which is worse IMO.

Hmmm, depends on tbe type of situation I'd be in. I'd go with the community choice, but I wouldn't if I really, REALLY needed the money...

I would consider keeping the money stealing, and tell my boss. I hate lying. I'm not good at it, and I always feel bad about it. I consider stealing even worse, I think the only thing I ever stole was a small plastic animal when I was about four. xD

I honestly would keep the money and pray that he doesn't find out cause I suck at lieing..at least to my family but they have had 14..almost 15 years to observe me. I thought I would bring up the point about stealing that isn't it your bosses fault for getting the number wrong? yeah I will leave you with that.

I'd probably tell him.
It's still his money. What right do you have to an extended bonus?
