"Agreed," Zarra nodded, "Though, if it catches you again... I am not leaving you behind. Stay close." She took a deep breath and started for opposite end of the hall, not far behind the Spartan.

((OoC: Okay, Mitch has been gone for a week now. I didn't want to go on too far without him, but I don't want to wait around here forever either. ))

(OoC: Agreed, I don't know what's goin on with him. Maybe it's peak exams or something?)
Chandler rushed forward, his legs pumping his boots into the floor. He was confident he could outrun those tentacles if they striked again, he wasn't so sure about the others. The Elites should make it. He reached the elevator and crashed into the wall inside it, he then pushed himself off it and drew his Assault Rifle to cover the others.
Anau attempted to keep up with the Spartan, as did the ODSTs. He decided to slow himself to a good distance from the Humans struggling to keep up, just in case they were ambushed. He soon made it to the lift with the other Elites and covered the Humans until they arrived huffing and puffing. "Going down," Chandler said, hitting a button, "I think."

Zarra sighed with relief as the last person reached the elevator safely, without any sign of the monterous security machine returning. She then imagined what it might be preoccupied with, and shuddered. She reloaded her carbine as the elevator started, and tried to prepare herself for whatever might come next.

Cassy limped aboard the elevator and leaned against the wall. "I... ow..." she said, trying to keep herself from shaking so much. Her armour was badly damaged during the tentacle attack. She looked at the Commando elite that she checked out of the way. "You better be a real badass, Sangheili..."

"He is," said Zarra with a grin, "He has saved my life more times than I can count, and is probably the most valuable and experienced member of the squad, (he has been through more battles than me, at least). I would be lost without him..." She looked at Anau for a long moment, with a smile, then suddenly blushed and shook her head, turning her attention back to the female Spartan, "You have done us a great service by helping him, thank you." Zarra bowed her head respectfully, then, embarrassed but unable to maneuver away from the Spartan in the crowded elevator, tried to look preoccupied with checking the charge left in her sword's battery.

That female Elites feelings for the male were painfully obvious. Chandler rubbed his head and groaned; the battlefield was no place for romance. Once their conversation was done, he turned to Cassy, "What's your status?" he asked, "Can you fight?"
Anau smiled under his helmet and gave Zarra a nod, then the female Spartan.

Cassy nodded back to Anau and looked at Chandler. "Checking armour systems now chief,- err, Chandler." Her armour went through it's statistics and finished. Cassy clenched her right fist and her knuckle blade slid out. She loosened her grip and the knife slid back. "Armour is cracked and loose in some areas. Helmet is working at ninety percent capacity and shields can only charge to eighty seven percent." she grinned slightly. "I am hurt but I'm a Spartan. We don't even whimper if we lose an arm. Like they say..." she stopped leaning against the wall and took and ODSTs shotgun. "When you can't run, you walk. When you can't walk, you crawl." "And when you can't crawl?" asked the ODST. Cassy grinned and glanced at the ODST. "You find someone to carry you, of course."

Zarra laughed and gave the female Spartan another nod, "Well said! Enough talk though, we can't afford to become distracted. Who knows what will come next, and when." She turned toward her squad, "Warriors, prepare for battle."

Chandler smiled, she was committed. He was actually, for the first time, impressed and... proud of his squad.
The lift continued for a few minutes before finally arriving at a floor. Chandler gestured for the squad to be silent before the doors opened. Two Rifters seemingly stood guard right in front of the elevator, with their backs to the squad. Chandler looked to an Elite beside him, and he shrugged. The two then took the Rifters by the necks, pulled them into the elevator and applied pressure where necessary. Chandler placed his Rifle on his back and exchanged it with the Rifters rifle. "Spartan, that weapon wont work for you. It didn't for me," Anau said. "Neither did any other kind of Forerunner tech," Chandler replied, "Let's move."

Zarra carefully approached the next bend, and glanced around the corner. "It looks clear," she said quietly. "I'm not at all sure about anything on this ship," she muttered to herself, "but we can't let that stop us."

"Correct," Chandler said, joining Zarra at the bend, "Quick, let's move." He ran forward, holding the Rifter rifle awkwardly in his hands. He came to another bend, peeked around it and moved forward, 'Where are they?' It wasn't long before the squad arrived at a large door, which looked like an airlock. Or a blast door. The door opened automatically for them and they moved in cautiously.
Chandler walked into the room, that was quite obviously the engine room. Large machines, tanks and many other mechanical device littered the room. In the far corner of the room was something that interested Chandler. A machine sat on the ceiling of the engine room, many cables and pipes were connected to it. "Spread out, I'm checking this thing out."

Zarra moved into a corner near some cover, with her back to the wall. She scanned the room carefully, watching for enemies or traps. "I don't like this," she growled, "It's all too easy. Either there's nothing useful to us here, or it's a trap. They wouldn't leave it so unguarded otherwise."

"She's right. Everyone; stay on your toes," Chandler ordered, moving across the room to the device he wanted to investigate. It looked like a weapon, it was secured to the ceiling with many cables and pipes connected to it, or from it. Chandler assumed weapon because it had what it seemed to be a barrel. Perhaps it was a mining tool, some kind of laser. But still, why was it an engine room? Whatever it was, it was pointing down at the floor. "Has anyone found anything?" Chandler asked, but before anyone could reply the lights in the engine room dimmed and an alarm sounded. "Find cover, it's a trap!" Chandler yelled, brining the Rifter rifle to his hip and scanning the room for enemies.
The floor below the device hanging from the ceiling began to open up, Chandler quickly dived to safety before he was swallowed up. As the floor parted, the device descend from the ceiling and hanged just above the newly created hole. The alarm still sounding, Chandler moved over the hole in the floor and looked down it, an ODST joined him. "How deep do you think it is?" the marine asked. "It's deep," Chandler replied. He took the scope from the ODSTs sniper rifle and looked down the hole in an attempt to get a distance reading, "It's really deep," he said, once he failed to get a reading. "What's that thing?" the ODST asked, pointing to the machinehanging in front of them. The barrel of the machine began to spin and expand, before shooting out a cone shaped device. Chandler and the ODST watched it fall into the darkness below. "...That..." the ODST said, looking to the Spartan beside him. Chandler continued to look into the hole below, "It... looked like a warhead," "Well... at least it dropped down there and not on us," the ODST chuckled, taking his scope back and rejoining the other ODST. "Unless someone's found something interesting, we're leaving," Chandler said worriedly.

"Let's go. Now," said Zarra, already heading for the door, "If that was a warhead, that hole may not be deep enough for us to escape the blast. We don't know exactly how powerful all their weapons are yet, and I want to be as far away as possible when whatever that was, does what it's meant to do."
