"We're moving out," Chandler ordered, slamming a clip into his rifle and moving down the hall. These halls were huge, big enough to fit a Warthog in. Then he remembered he had an issue to address. He grabbed Cassy's wrist and pulled her close to him, "Last time we fought together, you shot me in the back," he glared, "You wont do it again."
Anau directed a nod to the Spartan as he began talking to the other. He moved forward with Elites with both Plasma Rifles in hand.

Cassy depolarized her visor and glared at Chandler. "Last time it was an accident." she yanked her wrist free from Chandler's grip. "Next time you won't be so lucky." she made sure her SMGs were fully loaded and the spare ammo was secure and looked at Chandler, "I'll take point, seeing as you're so worried about yourself."

Zarra followed, but stayed a little behind the Spartans, she had volunteered for the engine room mission hoping to avoid them, but apparently that was impossible. A few squad members grumbled about the new mission and growled impatiently. "Hush," said Zarra, "We will have plenty of Rifters to kill soon enough. They wouldn't have sent Spartans on this mission if it wasn't likely to cause the enemy a great deal of trouble."

Anau had approached a turn in the hallway and looked back to see the female Spartan and the Elites catching up to him. He peered down the new hallway, no contacts. He seemed to relax, and strolled out into the middle of the hallway, "It's clear," he called back.
Chandler huffed and let Cassy run off, he scratched the top of his head and jogged after the group.
Anau turned back from the group and looked back down the new hallway, the rather large hallway, he moved forward and disappeared around the corner. He stayed close to the wall as he slowly moved forward... a slight hiss of air rushing out of somewhere, possibly his armour. Though when he turned his head, he noticed a small wall panel had been removed. Anau immediately assumed a security system, and took a few steps back into the middle of the hall. More panels had been removed, more and more and more. "What is this..." Hundreds of mechanical tentacles shot out of the holes and slithered their way through the air towards Anau, he opened fire and retreated back to the group, as one was destroyed it seemed to be replaced by five more. One wrapped around his arm, but he was able to break free, soon he became covered in them, "Squad, I need assistance!"

Cassy bolted in front of Anau and fired her Grenade Launcher. the tentacle exploded and was replaced. Cassy didn't have enough time to reload and turned and and shoved Anau back around the corner as she took the hit from the tentacle.

Zarra started toward the commotion, sword ready. She quickened her pace when she saw one of the Elites was under attack, then rushed forward with an alarmed cry when she saw that the Elite was Anau. In a moment, she had joined him and the Spartan, hacking away at the slithering things with her sword when they got too close, while at the same time trying to get Anau free. Some of the other Elites moved forward to attack, while the rest hung back, unsure of how to battle the strange foe.

Cassy constantly punched the tentacle holding her and used the knife in her gauntlet for more damge. Then more and more tried to supress her. It was working. She could feel the tentacles suffocate and begin to crush her. She was nearly there. "M-mitch... h-help..."
((Need I say more? Someone be a hero.))

Chandler joined the fight, firing his assault rifle at the tentacles. The bullets seemed to only make dints or at best penetrate the tentacles metal scales and create a spark. Chandler had emptied half his clip and only one tentacle had fallen. Anau picked off the remains of the security system from his armour and fired his Plasma Rifles once more; the plasma bolts were far more effective than bullets. He immediately noticed the female Spartan that had saved him, time to return the favour.
Anau jumped onto the Spartan and began tearing off the tentacles. Though his rescue mission was cut short, when one wrapped around his neck. He dropped his rifles and grasped onto it, letting out a growl as the pressure increased. More and more began to wrap around his arms, waist and legs.
Chandler began using his assault rifle as a club and stayed by the Elites, he couldn't risk getting into the thick of it. He lacked a helmet, and only one of those tentacles would need to do is get around his neck. He pointed out to one of the split-lips that an Elite was being strangled, a swarm of plasma fire followed.
Anau broke free and raged, he stepped on, broke, ripped apart and spat on the tentacles. He leaped forward and took up his Plasma Rifles again. He return to the Spartan and shot the metal snakes off her. He grabbed her leg and dragged her off while the Elites kept the security system at bay. "Spartan, what do we do?" Anau yelled. "We, uh," stuttered Chandler, "hold them off." Chandler signalled for reinforcements and three ODSTs came running, one with a rocket launcher, "Punch a hole," he ordered. The ODST fired a rocket, destroying a mass swarm or tentacles, which was replaced by another. "Damn it," Chandler grunted.

Zarra backed away from the writhing mass of metalic tentacles once Anau was safe, and fired her carbine into it a number of times until it was clear the weapon wasn't having much of an effect. She studied the hydra-like machine for several moments, thinking. "If it's a security device," she finally said, "There must be a way to deactivate it. Look for some sort of control panel."

Cassy coughed up some blood and spat it all over her visor by accident. Her armour was badly damaged. Her Energy Shields were damaged an could only charge to seventy-three percent power. Torso, arm, and leg armour was cracked or loosened. As for her helmet, it was nearly untouched. Just a crak or two. She staggered back up. "I have a suggestion. It's crazy but i think it may work."

"Whatever it is, do it fast!" an ODST yelled, firing his Battle Rifle, which was about as effective as an Assault Rifle on single fire. As he and the others began to pull back, they noticed more panels began to be removed from the hall behind them, "It's an ambush!" Another rocket was shot down the hall and two grenades were tossed. The foolish ODST believed it had bought him enough time to get through the swarm. He ran, "Come on!" he yelled back to his comrades, skipping over the fallen tentacles. Chandler looked back and saw the ODST making a run for it, he was as good as dead, no point telling him to stop. The tentacles picked themselves up from the floor or shot out of new panels. They swarmed the ODST, wrapping around him and lifting him into the air, this had gotten everyone's attention. Chandler watched as the Human was lifted above the floor, the poor ODST began screaming in fear, not pain. He wasn't being killed; he was being taken. A Special Operations Elite ran forward in a feeble attempt to rescue the Human. The Elite was simply cast down as the ODST was returned to the floor and dragged towards the rest of the group. Chandler jumped forward in an attempt to grab the only part of the ODST not covered in a tentacle, his hand. Chandler took it with a firm grasp, his weight only being able to stop the swarm for a moment. The swarm began tugging Chandler along the floor, "Hang on!" he yelled, the tentacles muffled the ODST's pained reply. One of the floor panels opened up, ready to swallow the trooper whole. Two tentacles wrapped around his elbows and pulled Chandler away from the ODST, pulling his glove with him. The trooper was dropped into the hole and taken by the security system. But with that, the tentacles retreated into their panels and the panels closed after them. It was over. Chandler got off the floor and looked at the glove in his hand. Anau looked around the now silent halls that were once filled with chaos, "Is everyone alright?"
(OoC: Sorry Mitch. Keep that idea, there will be another opportunity to use it)

Zarra watched in horror as the human vanished, then in confusion as the tenticles did the same. She was quiet for a long moment then glanced at Anau, "I'm fine. And you?" she said shakily. "Gods," she then gasped in a hushed voice, when it dawned on her that the machine might have only been after whoever had set it off, "The human it took... I fear that was meant to be you." She looked toward the rest, "Is there some other way around? That thing may come back and take another if we try to go that way again."

"It was after the Spartan before I," Anau replied, "But I am fine, and valid question," Chandler held the ODSTs glove in his hand for a moment longer, before pocketing it, "Another way round? No time, that thing got what it wanted, we need to power through," he took a clip from an ODST and moved over to Cassy, "Still want point?"

((OoC: I wonder where Mitch is. )) "I'm not sure if I agree with you," said Zarra, "but I know we shouldn't waste time here. Just don't expect any of my men or I to go first. I have done many foolhardy things, but rushing back into a trap that we just escaped is not what I call courageous."

(OoC: By the looks of things he's been doing nothing but playing xbox live)
"We're just going to have to hope that machine takes it's time with that ODST, wont we?" Chandler replied. He looked further down the hall littered with the remains of the tentacles, at what seemed to be the end of the hall, was an elevator. "We're going to sprint it; don't fall behind," He then attached his rifle to his back and ran forward.
"He's certainly a foolish Spartan," said Anau to Zarra, "If he is wrong, which he may be, I doubt he will stop to fight. We shouldn't either."
